H&M sunglasses

Some things make you smile. Like a new pair of sunglasses. Like a new pair of cheap as chips sunglasses which somehow manage to bring you right up to date for £3.99! This H&M pair has a clear perspex frame with tinted mirrored lenses. And they are not just any old tinted mirrored lenses - they are tinted with a smidgeon of sexy green coolness  L.O.V.E.

And of course there is no link to them online. Because that would be too easy wouldn't it?

-------------------

So what kind of sunglasses girl are you? Cheap as chips or a bit of a Rayban luxe girl? Or even better still - both!

    1. I know you are Helen and I might have dabbled in a pair before now if I could get a pair which fitted and suit my face. I have spent many hours in those airport lounges trying them on but alas - they weren't just quite right and if I'm spending good money, they have to be right.

  2. Cheap as chips for me as I always end up losing them or sitting on them! These look great! Lynne x

    1. All mine are as cheap as chips and consequently, I've now ended up with seven pairs of the same style but in black and tortoiseshell from Primark. They were such a revelation for me in that they fitted on my nose and looked okay on - my problem is I don't have much of a nose bridge to hold up a pair of glasses or sunglasses so when they fit - I buy! And I bought a few just incase I sat on them or lost them too.

  3. I am a Rayban devotee...either wayfarers or aviators but I love these H&M ones Sue! They would bring so many outfits up-to-date as they are bang on trend! I'm going to give them a try next time I'm in H&M, you can't go wrong for £3.99 xx

    1. These are fun. I love the look of the Raybans but they don't totally suit my face and if I pay a lot, I want them to make me look smoking :)

      And yes for £3.99 - I couldn't resist.

  4. Wow, these look great! I like both - I have an expensive pair, but like to stock up on cheap as chips sunglasses for a bit of a change as well.

  5. I never wear cheap sunglasses I don't remember the last time I did. I adore sunnies almost as much as shoes and bags and would be really worried about protecting my eyes in a cheap pair, do you think they are OK on that score? Xx

    1. I remember seeing a documentary about expensive sunglasses being made in the same factory as cheap as chips ones and most of them are made from the same materials. Generally, you need to look for the CE mark which you probably already know which is an European standard of protection and these have that. There was some research done which proved that Primark sunglasses scored 10/10 for UV protection so I'm happy to have those for when I'm driving in the car - they do help take the edge and stop me squinting. They are also a bit of a new thing for me this year as it's taken me this long to find any sunglasses which actually fit my face and stay on comfortably and now I'm embracing them. Makes me all mysterious looking too (not).

  6. I'm definitely a cheap as chips girl as well, because I invariably lose them or sit on them. Dread to think what I'll be like when I have to give in and get reading glasses (I'm in total denial that I may have already reached that stage!)

    1. I've lost a few pairs, I dropped a pair the other week and the screw dropped out of the hinge which I couldn't find, so in the bin they went. At £1.50 for them, I didn't feel it too much. But I am pretty rubbish with things like this so I'm better off with the cheap and cheerful pairs. I would cry otherwise if I broke or scratched an expensive pair.

And I can't believe you have such good eyesight. I started wearing glasses from probably age 10. I blame it on all that reading under the bedclothes at night by torchlight.

  7. I never normally bother with sunglasses! Bad I know, but this year I've got some clubmasters. Gettjng a bit more sensible as I get older, protecting my eyes.

    1. I was just like you but part of the problem was I always forgot to pick them up on the way out of the house and the ones that I had didn't fit me properly so were uncomfortable. I always ended up with cheek dints! But yes, finding a few pairs this year which fitted has made a big difference and now I don't even like to drive without them.

  8. I have a pair of H&M tortoise shell sunnies which were no more than a fiver! They are fab & get worn a lot when with the children, I've had too many pairs of nice sunnies broken by little people!! x

    1. Ah, I have that problem too - when the small people get their grubby greasy mitts on them. But I no longer stress about it because believe it or not, I have seven pairs of the same style of glasses in black and brown. So I'm well covered!

  9. I now buy cheapo ones only because I managed to lose/break 3 expensive pairs in a year so I bought 3 pairs in the Oasis sale for a fiver each and when I lost/broke them, I got a few pairs from H&M and Claires Accessories (I think they were 3 for a fiver!). I love to wear sunglasses but shopping for them is a pain as the majority of them never fit properly on my Chinese nose and I spend the whole time looking down like a librarian and then pushing them back up. The chunky plastic framed ones fit better than the aviator style ones and are comfy. I think having cheapo fitting glasses much better than ill-filling designer ones! Plus I don't need to cry if I drop them in a lake feeding the ducks or sit on them in the car

    1. You have pin pointed exactly the problem I have with glasses too - my Chinese nose bridge is not enough to prop up glasses really well. I've tried on the expensive ones and they haven't suited and if I'm going to pay out for them, I want them to make me look awesome(ish). So the fact that Primark seems to make sunglasses which fit me means that those are the glasses of choice. With the exception of this H&M pair. And I find the plastic framed ones rather than metal frame ones sit better with my nose too. Hallelujah - I am not alone.

  10. I have tons of cheap sunnies and 2-3 expensive ones.. good for people like me who randomly lose them, I just dropped my Topshop mirrored pair down a 100m cliffside last weekend so I'm glad they weren't too expensive! Love the transparent frames here!

    1. I like the odd pair of funky glasses and I have noticed that I have a penchant for purple framed glasses for some reason. So I have bought a few … even when they don't fit or suit me. However these clear framed ones remind me of my first pair of NHS prescription glasses that I had when I was about 10. I hated them but now I think they are kind of cool in a weird geek chic kind of way. However for a 10 year old - arghghh!

  11. I'm a cheap sort of girl! I wear sunnies for work as I mainly drive most of the day and I hate wasting money on something I'm probably going to break/sit on/drop or misplace. So I'm cheap and tight with my money!

    1. Oh good - that makes me feel a bit better about my little cheap pairs. When I found a pair that fitted me this year in Primark, I went back the following week and bought another few pairs because somewhere along the way, I just knew I'd break, drop or sit on a pair and then I'd be lamenting that little cheap pair which fitted me and served me so well :)

  12. I only have 2 pair, tortoise wayfarers and H&M ones I got on the cheap. So 50/50 for me. I wish I could find more but my face is so small and narrow that it's rare that sunglasses fit (I usually end up looking like a giant bug). I have a lot of envy for Americans and their big heads and big sunglasses collections!! Love your blog and your new sunglasses (that I could never wear, so enjoy them!)

    1. So we all have different problems and are united in that we have problems with finding glasses/sunglasses which fit!

And thank you about the blog - that's very kind :o)

  13. Cute find Sue! I'm a bit of both these days, have bought a cheaper tortoiseshell pair from M&S recently as Luca wants to play with them all the time and nearly gives me a heart attack with my Chanel ones ;-) x

  14. Ill say, those are lovely! I was happy with my huge Tom Fords but recently found myself in a surf shop (I felt like their grandmother) and bought some new style Ray Bans, yellowish and they are giving me a new leash on life...

    1. Cool - I think it's good to try something a little different sometimes - it's what we all need to do to take us out of our comfort zone. And don't worry about feeling like a grandmother in places like that - they're probably all thinking, I want a grandmother/mother like you! Well that's what I hope people think about me when I pop in to Topshop over here :o)

  15. I have these!!! People always tell me to get sunglasses with prescription lenses in (as I can never wear sunnies with my bad eyesight, always have to wear contacts) - but I'm too fickle! I never like one pair for long enough. The only pair I have spent money on is Ray-Ban Clubmasters - as they're timeless. Also little stylist tip - when we used to call-in designer sunglasses for shoots - they would send about 20 pairs all crushed together with no packaging in a jiffy...which always made me think they weren't really worth all the money....!

    1. I have some prescription sunglasses which I loathe and which I never wear. And I don't even know where they are any more. But I don't feel too bad about them as they were free :o)

And that's really interesting to know about the designer sunglasses - all crushed together in a jiffy bag - that definitely makes me feel better about looking at my cheap and cheerfuls. Like I mentioned above to Sharron, the documentary I saw some time ago - it really gives you food for thought.

  16. Love your H&M sunglasses they are fab, I have in the past had expensive sunglasses and regretted it, I lose them, scratch them and have been known to sit on them so cheap as chips for me, I had some from Avon in the sales that were £5 so I had two pairs one to wear and one to keep when the inevitable happens.

    1. I've misplaced so many pairs in the past - just high street Monsoon, Marks & Spencers ones and it's strange, when I've found them again, I've actually thought, what on earth made me buy them in the first place - they don't suit me at all and they don't even fit right. I think I've become a little more fussy about comfort and fit over the years - it doesn't matter if they are cheap - they have to fit. If they're a little bit funky, that's even better!

  17. Do you know something? I nearly came home with a pair for my last birthday when I was shopping with Marlene from Chocolate, Cookies and Candies. I stopped myself at the last moment - they weren't quite right and if you're going to pay good money, they have to be perfect.

  18. You know me, I am always up for a bargain but I do hold my hands up - I am a sunglasses snob and only wear designer!!! No idea why really. It does take me a long time to find a pair suited to my face so when I do they tend to last for years and years. I am loving your H&M ones though, very cool.x

  20. I like the best of both worlds so I buy in TK Maxx! Never spend more than £20 - my current pair has fallen off my head at least a dozen times in the past week! X
