Guest Post - Introducing George. At Leeds Market
Friday, 19 October 2012
Hi - my name is George. My mummy is Sue and today she thought it would be fun to let me take over this post. As you can tell, for a three year old, I am remarkably literate and very cheeky. Let's take it away ...................
Mummy said we were going to Leeds market today with Por Por (Grandma) and Auntie. She said that Auntie wanted to take Ben to the market to pick a fish for his dinner as he loves fish.
This is what Mummy wore.
She gets a bit samey with what she wears but she says she needs to be practical when looking after us boys. She likes this parka from Topshop because it's a bit APC in it's simplicity. She also says the coat has deep pockets which is excellent for hoarding small toys and tissues for snotty noses and grubby hands - I'm forever telling her to leave her toys at home and to stop wiping her nose with her sleeve (just joking mum).
She didn't carry her tatty bag today but changed to another bag because she felt like it. I think she looks okay for a day out with us boys.
This is another one of her tatty bags. This is a leather one from Jigsaw which already looked a bit tatty when she bought it. I think Daddy should give her some more money so she can buy some bags which look new. I feel very sorry for her that she has to carry old bags.
Here I am practising my poses for the camera. Mum says the face needs a bit of work - don't know what she means. I think I look "smooth".
She picked out these clothes for me :

Not another tatty bag!

The name is George. George Dude.
One orange juice. Shaken not stirred.
She picked out these clothes for me :
Black Converse, Zara Hoodie, Zara Black Skinnies, Zara Bull Terrier Tee
I like these because Ben used to wear them when he was small and Mummy looked after them really well and now I get to wear them and look like Ben. I really like the way my Converse are getting worn in - I told Mummy that if she climbed some walls, kicked some footballs, fell over a bit more, her white Converse would look like mine.
Not all nice and clean like Mummy's Converse!
And here I am busting some moves in the back garden like only I know how to. When I grow up I want to be a rock star, play drums and throw toys out of the windows of hotel rooms.
Mum says I'm a natural in front of the camera.
And here we are just before we set off in the car. Ben's got a Harvest Festival crown on which he made at school. He thinks he looks a dude in it. I think he looks weird ... but I don't tell him that incase he sits on my head. He also dresses funny. Well he dresses himself but I don't like to comment on his sartorial choices. Incase he sits on my head.
Weird Ben and me.
We had super nosh at our favourite Chinese restaurant. I ate loads and loads and loads and Mummy got quite worried that my belly would pop. This was my favourite - Chinese custard tarts. Sorry - not much to show as I ate it all up.
Delish!
Leeds Market is really busy on Saturdays - this is the first time I've been and it was really interesting. There are lots of little stalls selling all sorts of things but we came here today to look at the fish.
Everything under the sun.
We saw live lobsters and crabs.
Mummy says these taste good with ginger and spring onions!
And we even had a little history lesson about Marks and Spencers :
We've all got to start somewhere.
After we bought our fish (and prawns), we looked at the fruit and veg. There's lots of bargains to be had!
We chose strawberries and a big big bunch of grapes (but no cauliflower).
We bought loads of yummy fruit and then it was home time. This is us with our haul. Mummy says there should be some horizontal lines drawn behind us ... something about an I.D. parade? Do you know what she's on about? Maybe it's because we were stealing grapes from the bag as we went to the car. Is that naughty? It shouldn't be - grapes are good for you and adults are always telling us we need to eat more fruit.
Eating the evidence.
Anyway, that's it and I hope you enjoyed my post. I thought it had a slightly fishy theme and as it's Friday and I hear you are supposed to eat fish on a Friday, I thought it would be appropriate. Till we meet again ... au revoir!

Thank you George for putting this post together. You are certainly one cheeky chappy!
It Must be Love ... Love ... Love ... in a Gap Love Jumper
Tuesday, 16 October 2012
Last post, a rock chick. This post - student of love. Well not student of love but rather student in a Gap Love jumper. Could you get more different?
Gap Love Jumper (old)
Falmer Heritage Boyfriend Jeans
New Look Nude Pumps
I've always loved the Bella Freud jumpers which adorned the torsos of Kate M and Alexa ....

... so I was quite delighted to find this more affordable number by Gap last year . I think it was last year, you know how time flies. One minute, learning the opening lines of Macbeth ...
When shall we three meet again?
In thunder, lightening, or in rain?
When the hurlyburly's done,
When the battle's lost and won.
That will be ere the set of sun.
I remember wearing a navy jumper in class in 198....
Do I look very studious? Not a day over 18 + many more....
Do I look very studious? Not a day over 18 + many more....
Next thing ... married with two kids ... writing a blog. How did I get here?? And I can never get those opening lines out of my head - drummed in they were! A' Level English Lit - I was so rubbish. I got through the A'levels with the help of York Notes - do they still have those? And a video of Roman Polanski's Tess of the Durbevilles. I was running out of time trying to read the book before the exam the next day!
Anyway, back to the jumper which is quite quirky with the unexpected "kiss" embroidered on the inside of the cuff which you only discover when you turn up the cuffs. To be honest, I think I was a bit of a fright in my student days - I used to try and make my own dirndl skirts from Liberty fabrics which I used to be able to purchase in Schofields in Leeds (old department store which has gone by the by) and think I was amazing. Well you do, don't you when you're a teen and you have the world at your pretty young feet? And you don't know any better and you don't care even if you do.
To add to the student vibe, I also found the Grumps redundant specs which have quite fetching navy frames which I will have altered with my prescription next time my sister goes to Hong Kong. It's much cheaper to get all things glasses related done there.
And on the theme of love, I decided to wear my Elsa Perretti Tiffany necklace which the Grumps bought me for my 40th birthday a little while back. There are three hearts - the big one is him and the two small ones are the boys. Awww. Brought a tear to my eye it did.
So back to normal today, no sherry, no guitars, no tottery heels. Just a cute jumper and a stonking good bedtime read.
Night night.
It's only Rock 'n' Roll! in a Zara TRF Biker Jacket
Saturday, 13 October 2012
-------------------------------------
I've never had a biker jacket before complete with flappy bits and zips and stuff. However, I have had in the past, a snakeskin leather jacket so there's a little bit of rock chick lurking in me somewhere really deep down. I first saw this Zara TRF jacket on Marlenes Wedding Outfits post. It is also modelled considerably better, clearer and more imaginatively on Marlene than on the Zara website. The jacket was love at first sight of blog post for me. The love was further sealed by the bargain price of £59.99 for something so fashion forward. I didn't even think before I hit the pay button and then I went "Oh drat! I've just ordered a biker jacket. I don't wear biker jackets - what am I doing???? Silly silly woman - you will just have to return it!" The dangers of blog reading!!! Be warned.
And then it arrived - I wasn't even that excited because I'd resigned myself to the fact that I'd had a moment of spontaneous rock chick madness and this wasn't going to work for me. I unwrapped it and looked at it and thought, it's nice and then went back to having my lunch. A little later, I finally got round to the task in hand of trying the jacket on. BOOM! Inner Rock Goddess gene unleashed big time! The sunglasses went on, the hair got a little bit more ruffled, sultry pout (okay not so sultry as much as smirky) and it all went a bit silly. A few guitar riffs here, a head mosh there and Susie Rock was born.
So above is my rock 'n' roll homage. Below is the normal(ish) pictures so you can see the jacket a little more in it's glory.
Felted jacket body with pleather sleeves and inlays.
Very slimming and very flattering. You've got to try it!
You're right Marlene, its a great jacket and very flattering!
I've styled it typically with jeans but I have in mind a little black lace dress to pop underneath should there be an occasion which calls for me to break out the legs. Until then, I will quite happily pretend to be Kate Moss or Alison Mosshart in best Rock Chick mode.
Anyone else tempted by a biker jacket? Or do you already have one and I am just sooo slow off the mark? But crucially, how would you style it?

Zara Animal Print Sweatshirt, Del Boy and Keira
Thursday, 11 October 2012
I'm trying to wear sweatshirts more ... to stop me wearing a fleece ... and looking too suburban and middle-aged. My regular fleece is grey, plain and inoffensive. A little like me. It's not brightly hued or candy striped and it doesn't have cute mismatched buttons and colourful trims ... for which I'm thankful as I think they should be left to the under 10's. But my grey fleece is not really up there in the fashion stakes is it? So I have decided that sweatshirts are the way to go .... for now.
I do actually have a few sweats hanging in the wardrobe but I wanted one which was a little more exciting. A little bit more fierce. A little bit more like this tawny little Zara number. Grrr.
And now, I have a question and it's about the details. Which do you prefer? The outfit worn with the black boots or the tan boots? And why?

Grrr - Bite Me!
Now Zara have this listed as an animal print sweatshirt - why they didn't just say tiger print, I don't know. Even the Grumps said "Hello Tiger" when he saw me in it. He also asked "What are you wearing?" which always gets the hackles up and I go on the defensive snapping back "Why????" "It's not your usual sort of thing". "Does it look bad or strange?" "No, it's different". "Different good or different bad?" and then the man started to look scared and we thought it best not to continue this line of questioning. I honestly think he would have said less if I had worn a candy coloured fleece with mismatched buttons and trims.
For a change, I've decided to get out my black Topshop Ambush boots aka the Acne dupes.
Topshop Ambush Boots (old)
I love and hate these boots in equal measure. For some reason, I look rubbish with skinnies tucked in to them (something to do with not having model proportion legs) and they don't always look right with the boyfriend jeans either. These are just about looking okay with the Jack Wills jeans with turn ups .... today.

Jack Wills Black Jeans
Topshop Ambush Boots
But I prefer the jeans and sweatshirt with the good old Office Namesake boots. For some reason, they soften the look for me and I feel more comfortable with these.
Not as "fierce" but I like it.
And then I donned the "Del Boy" jacket, which I bought in an ASOS sale after missing out on the Topshop version a couple of years back.
Lovely Jubbly
Which has more than a little nod to the Seventies.
Style Icon : Del Boy Trotter
Bearing in mind that Del Boy Trotter should not really be revered as a Style Icon, I came across this second picture of Keira Knightley which may serve to put your minds at rest that I've not totally lost the plot.

If it's good enough for Keira - it's good enough for me!
And even if I do say so myself, that's a pretty nice look from Keira which I shall park in my bank of looks to copy. I may work that look in a future post - then again I might not.
