Breakfast

Thursday, 13 August 2015

Well I've done avocados to death to the point that my body now resembles one. And I cannot face any more Greek yogurt and granola either. Time to move on.

And I have - on to some oaty stuff with chia seedy things. My new fad. It doesn't taste bad, looks a bit gluey but it only takes a minute to prepare. I tried it as it was recommended on the packet by just adding hot water to the mix and and it's okay.  If you want something dairy free - this is perfect and if you want it a little a bit tastier, some almond milk or soya milk is good and ramps it up a bit. I know as I tried it like this too. I also threw on some blueberries and then picked them all off again and ate them separately - I'm not a great lover of berries in my cereal - they taste a little "tart". I'm weird like that.

Now if I keep eating this ... I will be bored to death soon - probably by August - so any suggestions out there for some healthy interesting breakfasts with minimal cooking and minimal berry fruits involved would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you from my body in advance  :o)

Last Note :

* As you can tell, I'm quite faddy about things. I do them to death till I can do them no more.

* Still can't quit those second breakfasts! The days are long!

  1. I like savoury in the mornings and eat the same thing every single day: a flour tortilla with two slices of prosciutto and a touch of shaved parmigiano which I warm up in the oven, then cover in rocket, roll up and cut in half.
I share one with my husband (but it makes an excellent second breakfast or early luch when he's not around!)
What can I say, I'm hungry gal in the mornings, and if I eat cereal or a bowl of oats I'm hungry again in no time...

    1. Actually, that doesn't sound like a bad idea actually. I do have porridge but I find myself still snacking so it doesn't really do that filling me up thing that it's supposed to do. Or maybe I'm just a bit greedy! And after reading your comment, I dropped in some prosciutto in to my shopping basket yesterday. This one I will be trying.

    2. The trick is not too much prosciutto (too tough) or cheese (too greasy) and lots of rocket. Hope you like it!

  2. I love breakfast, but in order to eat healthily it does take a bit of work, which I often don't have a lot of time for in the mornings.....But that little packet of oats and chia looks nice and easy, where did you get it Sue? My fave breakfast is definitely eggs of any sort, but I do like them with fresh white toast which throws the healthy eating plan right out the window!!

    1. These packets of porridge with chia seeds is actually from Sainsburys though I know Waitrose do them as well. They come in boxes of 5 I think and are as easy as wink. And eggs is always good though I don't like to have them too often. Infact, I had dippy eggs with toast last night for dinner as I was on my own - nice and simple!

    1. This is basically porridge but with some healthy seeds in it and a little pricey but I think that's because of the chia seeds which are not that cheap. It's worth a try but I bet you'll be back on your porridge when you finish a box of these!

  4. I make my own almond milk (V easy) and use it on my organic rolled oats. I place a mix of pecans or walnuts, almonds and sunflower seeds, in a bowl, with some banana (Nancy has some of my banana on her toast.) I then pop the porridge on top and drizzle a decent amount of maple syrup on it. Completely delicious and nutritious. Other nuts and fruits can be used to mix it up a bit. xx

    1. Now I have a problem ... I don't really like nuts and I don't like fruit that much except for certain ones. Can you see how I find it a struggle with the clean eating? I do like almond milk though :)

  6. I have never eaten breakfast in my life! I have ZERO appetite until around 2 hrs after waking and then I hunger on until lunchtime!

  7. I love the look of this - I want to add golden syrup to it. I find that if I eat a decent breakfast, I want to pig out for the rest of the day. So I have to limit myself to a boring grapefruit livened up with some raspberries. Maybe I need to add chia seeds for some variety?!
