A Nice Day

Tuesday, 27 May 2014

Yesterday, it was a Bank Holiday, the sun shone and the boys went to my sister. Whoo hoo!

Uniqlo cashmere cardigan, Uniqlo shirt, SusieHo bracelet, Zara jeans, Zara bag, H&M Swedish Hasbeens

So the Grumps and I snuck out for lunch with friends in Halifax! Yay!

And as it was a relaxed kind of day, I wore a relaxed kind of outfit. Quite a monochromatic palate bar the very red Swedish Hasbeens. I've only ever worn them for 5 mins on the school run, nipping out of the car and back in again which doesn't really count so yesterday was a proper outing for them and I managed quite well in them to say they were on my feet for most of the day. I did have a little help with some gel insoles which are similar to these Secret Soles as I thought they might give me some extra grip and some cushioning against the hard wood. Be kind to your feet is my mantra and then they won't hurt you :o)

And look! A picture of me in a mirror which is not my usual home mirror! I have to say, it does need a little clean though.

And because the Grumps was in such a good mood, he took a rare pic of me!

Man - those shoes are bright aren't they?

.... because he was having such a nice day and not too grumpy :o)

Hope you all had a nice Bank Holiday everyone!

Last Note :

  • The glitter heart bracelet I'm wearing is on back order at the moment. If anyone wishes to order, they can but I'm afraid it won't be despatched till next week. Sorry.

    1. Thanks Beccy. I have to say I'm seriously impressed with the shirt as I was taking special note to see how it wore for a whole day and it stayed relatively crease free all day. And it's a lovely soft cotton so I can wholeheartedly recommend. And I've always been a little hesitant with the shoes as they are so bright but now - I don't think they are so bad.

  2. Grumps did well!
I didn't like those shoes at first but they grew on me the more I saw them and by the end I WANT THEM!

    1. Ha ha. I used to be like that with the cloggy shoes but over time, I've come to quite like them. Not all - some styles are more wearable than others and I think this pair are quite wearable despite the fire engine redness.

    1. I had a lovely day Sharon. I love my kids but it was nice to just walk around without being tugged in different directions and telling them not to crawl from underneath something (hmmm) or wipe the floor with their clothes. And the weather was good too so everything was in our favour. It's not often that happens.

    1. I had a lovely day Steph - and then the day after was sooooo miserable and rainy and cold. It couldn't have been more different.

And yes - that mirror needs a clean doesn't it?

  6. We had a bloody rainy bank holiday weekend in london and it ruined my photoshoot plans.
Still, I'm glad someone had some sunshine.
On the side note, I'm loving those swedish hasbeens. Are they comfy? Which heel height are yours? I'm contemplating getting some.

    1. My pair are on the medium to low heel height range. I don't think I'd want to do the high ones as I think they might be a little hard on the feet with them being wooden but they are popular so they can't be that bad. Lotta from Stockholm also do some similar styles - this is pair that I've been contemplating on and off. I love the aubergine shade http://www.lottafromstockholm.co.uk/peep-toe-clogs-aubergine.html

  7. So adorable, Sue! I hope I'm as stylish as you are when I'm a mom and not waddling around in sweats and Birks.

Maybe you should train the Grumps more with photo taking? Certainly has potential.

    1. I do the sweats and Birks at home Amanda ;o) which the Grumps finds seriously unimpressive. But it's for his eyes only!

And no I'd rather pull teeth than train the Grumps. He's not called the Grumps for no reason.

    1. Michelle - I love this little shirt and I'm so glad I bought it. The black just gives it a bit of edge over a navy. And it wears and washes so well! They are on sale at the moment - I wish they had more colours than the ones they have as I would have snaffled another one I'm sure.

    1. It was nice actually. It was one of those days where you come away from it, fed and happy thinking what a nice day it was. It was what you call a "bonus" day.

  10. What store are you standing in? I like the outdoorsy feel.

    1. I'm in a Jack Wills outlet. The store itself is fabulous as it is an old carpet warehouse. This is really quite a luxe setting for an outlet so it's nice being able to pop in for a visit now and then and then nip off for lunch at the tapas place 2 mins away. Oh and this lawn shirt - washes and wears well - I picked it up the next day and it would have been good for another wearing with no ironing needed. You mentioned before that you had a lawn tunic in a similar print and fabric - maybe because your lawn tunic is a tunic - the creases are where you bend the most and those are more evident?

    1. I think a little while back, I might have steered of the combination but I just wanted something to breathe a bit of life in to the whole outfit. I normally go for something quite neutral on the feet but I felt like having a bit of fun on Monday and those Hasbeens certainly hit the fun button.

    1. How do you find they wear? I'm curious as I'm a bit of a Hasbeen virgin and my concern was always the hardness of the wood or does that eventually "wear/mould" to your foot shape? I was quite comfortable like I mentioned but I did soften the wear with the gel soles as I was a bit chicken about going a whole day in them.

    2. Absolutely love the Hasbeens & such a fab pop of colour to your outfit! Sad that the sun has disappeared (again!!), we have been in wellies the last couple of days! :( x

  14. Love a day with no kids! The Hasbeens look fabulous- are they comfy without the gel? I'm tempted.

    1. I've not worn them for any length of time without the gel insoles so I couldn't honestly say. But given their popularity, I would say they were. And Dr Scholl did wooden clog shoes which I always associated with comfortable orthopedic wear so I guess they will be. What colour are you hankering after?

  16. I have those exact same shoes and I love them! Such a score, don't you think? Been wanting some 'real' has-beens ever since though... Oh and by the way, you should get Grumps to do more of your photos, that's such a great shot!

    1. I copied you on these shoes after seeing your pair on your blog. I loved the colour of them.

And though the Grumps was "obliging", it was still blooming hard work getting him to take a decent pic where I didn't look moronic or have my eyes closed or mouth wide open. #lovemymirrorphotos_noaggro
