Laidback Sunday

Sunday, 3 November 2013

I took a little break from Blogsville over the last week and I have to say - I enjoyed it. I enjoyed being a reader instead of a blogger. It takes less effort and besides I had nothing to say and kids to entertain - it was half term after all. But the problem with taking a break is you can get really used to it and if you don't put fingers to the keyboard again ... you might never blog again. So here I am tap tap tapping.

Anyway, this is me in my Sunday finery. All seen before and nothing new to report. And yes those are my Uggy slippers you see before you. I am at home after all. Do you honestly walk around in a pair of heeled boots around the house?

Whistles striped top, Zara jeans, Zara belt, Kirkland (slipper) Boots

Anyway, that was me checking in and I will be back this coming week with hopefully something more exciting than a pair of slippers. Maybe something a little black and lacey? Ooh err!

  1. I used to have a pair of uggy slipons I refused to take off when I was living in NZ. Winter is cold there! Also once went to uni with them on, oh the shame (not)

    1. It's just about hit Uggs weather here. I've dusted mine down and they are ready for action. The problem with Uggy footwear is they are damned comfy and once you slide your feet into them, that's just where they want to stay. And going to Uni in them - I don't think they were even invented when I went.

  3. Fab slippers, Sue. You've seen mine on Avenue 57 so you know I don't walk around in heeled boots at home! Love the Breton. Lynne x

    1. I did see your slippers and I thought there's a lady who's keeping it real. I spend pretty much all my time in mine - toasty especially on frosty mornings (we got our first taste of frost here today).

    1. I have a Costco membership and each September, I stock up on a pair for the next year or two (I have two pairs stockpiled currently :o)) They are much nicer than the faux fur ones which are not quite as supportive. I also buy from the children's section as I can fit in them. No VAT and all that.

  5. Hi there! My perfect casual chic home look- you can't beat some distressed jeans, Breton stripes and some Uggs, you look great! Hope you have a great week ahead! Yes about the books, they are strategically placed so I look at them daily in the hope the pile will go down and down-that's the plan, anyhow! xxx

    1. I've been a bit out of sorts with my wardrobe all week as I've not been at home and I've missed my Uggy slippers. But I feel so much better when I've got all my stuff around me. I'm a bit of a homebird. And yes that's quite some pile of books you've got there - it will be interesting to see if the Trinny & Susannah book is still relevant so many years on.

  6. Very nice outfit! I like the tee a lot - it seems Whistles could be a place of purchase for me, if only there was a store in Paris to see and try on the clothes before buying... And I like that type of slippers, warm and comfortable. Isn't it what slippers are supposed to be when it's cold outside? I have sheep slippers myself, bought from Oysho last year, and they are a dream :)

    1. They have some nice simple pieces and they are made well. This Edie striped top is actually double faced so its like it's lined which makes it a touch warmer than the average jersey style top. Shame there isn't a store near you - I think you might like some of the pieces. I've done well with them this year but I've stuck with the plainer items. And the slippers - I was a bit worried that they weren't doing them this year as they didn't have the ones I wanted when I checked in on them earlier in the season but as soon as I saw the ones I wanted, in the trolley they went. No messing - this is one purchase I never regret.

  10. Ah Sue, your Sunday look is positively overdressed compared to mine! Unless I am going out of the house I just stick on p.j's and a scruffy old grey sweat top, my hair is lucky if it sees a brush too!!! xx

    1. Honestly - I try to stay in my pj bots as long as I can but the Grumps would have something to say about it. Most days he sets off out and I'm in my pj bots and when he gets in in the evening, I've changed back in to them as well - I can't do that to him at the weekend too!

  11. Snap! As soon as I close the front door, I'm straight into my Uggs. Can't beat them for comfort around the house. But please hurry up with the black, lacy post ... intrigued, to say the least!

    1. The top is great isn't it? And comfy. It's what I would call a winter Breton. And this is quite smart Sunday for me - two hours later - whole different ball game. PJ bots out in force (but only after 6pm).

    1. I actually change in to joggers as soon as I finish the school run in the morning and change back again for the afternoon pick up. I have to change because some of my joggers look so bad - they are not fit for most peoples eyes.

  14. I love the striped top - and laid back is good - it's all I seem to be able to do when it's cold. Seems to take supreme effort to do anything else! Taking a break is good now and then - gives you time for a breather (and to catch up with the housework!) :)

  15. Half term break just whizzed past for me, this time round. You've just reminded me. I haven't worn a striped top in ages.

    1. I don't wear them as much when the weather turns as I naturally reach for a grey jumper but when the sun shines it feels right. And yes, it went fast but then again you were country hopping!

  16. I was missing your posts, and your sense of humor Sue! Love the outfit - just what I'd be wearing today if it weren't so scorching hot!

    1. Well we did have a good summer this year so I can't complain and yes the top is very you. I can't imagine you kicking back in a pair of Uggs though.

  17. Looking great! Man I love those jeans on you. I did go to Zara the other day and tried on all the distrassed jeans they had in store and not a single pair of them fit decently enough to come home with me. Argh. Oh well, I can just admire them from afar on you. Or maybe try another Zara store ;)

I've taken a little blogging break as well, and sometimes it just feels so good! But you're right, it is a bit hard to get back in the saddle. Off to write a post myself!

    1. I've looked for the last year in Zara for jeans and nothing made the grade till now. Just luck of the draw I guess this time.

And yes - the break is good. And I'm telling myself it's good to get blogging again but I'm quite happy browsing pinterest in the evenings at the moment. It's one or the other and pinterest takes infinitely less effort!

  18. I'm the same, trackie bottoms or pj on as soon as I get in. Been wanting some good quality slippers for the winter (as opposed to the free spa ones I love in) will have to check those uggs out! Great to have u back on board little lady!! X

    1. Thanks Trea. Get yourself the cosiest slippers you can find. I lived in Uggs through my first pregnancy as my feet went up half a size - not a big deal but it was kind of strange finding that most of my shoes didn't fit or didn't feel comfy. When you're not wearing them out - wear them in. I do.

  19. Love the striped top with the distressed jeans. Such a perfect and laid back look.

p.s. I also love taking little breaks from blogging but always find it a bit difficult to put the first post up after having been gone for a while! xx
