Next Black Pony Slip Ons, Next Leopard Pony Slip Ons

So I'm a bit slow off the mark. But I got there. I found some. Black pony hair slip ons. Err and some leopard ones whilst I was there too. In Next of all places. That shop which everyone goes in to buy their work wear. Who would have thought?

My hunt started a while back. I first spotted the black Zara pony slips on Ebay being touted for huge amounts and then they started popping up on various blogs. Red rag to a bull. I took the bait and started my internet trawl to find them. And it was interesting. What did I find out along the way? I found that the Zara slip ons arrived roughly at the beginning of the year and came and went in a blink of an eye. Did anyone see them? No? Me neither and I think I'm pretty good at spotting these kind of things. I also found that the Zara ones are actually Celine inspired and that Celine are now doing python ones, petrol effect ones, coloured hairy ones and snakey ones. At a price of course. Can't find any online though. Not that I was going to get any Celine ones anyway.

And how did I come across the Next ones? I was doing my usual using Next as a thoroughfare and I was exiting the store past the last of the sales shoes when I spotted the leopard ones out of the corner of my eye. Now leopard are nothing like plain black but I forgot to mention that I've also been eyeballing the Kurt Geiger Laurel leopard ones. I've actually tried those on but I balked at the price and put those back but kept my eyes peeled for suitable alternatives. Well find them I did and for the princely sum of £18 in the Next sale. Score! I ordered my pair online as there were none in my size in store and they still had lots of sizes last time I looked. The black ones are full price at £36 as they are new season stock.

How will I wear them? Not sure but Fen's given me some lovely ideas with her latest post featuring Studio Nicholson.

Madewell's lookbook helps to cement the reason why I like these skate style slip ons. And how not to look like a skater girl wearing them.

And if I look half as cool as one of my favourite bloggy girls, Steph, I will be very happy.

Yo Steph - I found some!!!

Last note :

  • Sorry, can't find a link for the leopard ones but they are in the clearance section of the Next Directory under women's casual shoes.

    1. The leopard ones are a definite. I wore them today. They are a little snug over the top of the foot but not frighteningly so and lots of room for toe wiggling. The black ones ...?

  3. Sue!! Haha, OMG what a bargain! Now you got me thinking of a printed pair too :) And of course you'll look cool, you always do missy. Love the studio Nicholson styling! You'll get so much wear out of them I promise - mine have been getting thorough abuse from almost daily wear. The pony hair element really makes these quite special. They're so comfy too. I definitely lucked out! x

    1. I love both pairs but I definitely suit the leopard ones more than the black ones which were the ones I were seduced by originally. And having seen the Studio Nicholson styling, they make me realise just how wearable they are. However, I am struggling with the black pair a little because they look quite "harsh" on me. It's probably all in my mind - I'll give them a few days yet for thinking them over. And for some reason, the black pair I have are comfier than the leopard. Huff. But still like them :o)

  5. Hot damn those are AMAZING!! Seriously. I am all kinds of jealous right now. I would have bought both pairs myself I'm sure of it. I don't think I'm going to be able to get those out of my mind for quite a while. What a score!

  6. Sue I really am looking forward to seeing how you wear these - I'm tempted to buy a pair for myself but they just seem too much like Vans that I can't picture myself in these (although baby steps, I did get a pair of sneaks recently). Enough with the suspense already! And as Nomadic D says, MAJOR SCORE xx

    1. They are very much Vans inspired and I don't like Vans but somehow, I quite like these. No explaining it.

How I'm going to wear them? Hmmm. However I wear them, I bet I can make them look positively suburban.

  7. I loved those leopard slip-ons when I first saw them but could never part with the cash - I just ordered a pair on sale! Thank you, Sue - I'll be sure to take a picture!

    1. They're really reasonable for £18. I hope you get on with them. They are a little snug over the top of the foot or maybe that's just me but still okay. I've worn them today and no major complaints but I didn't do major walking in them though I had them on for a few hours. I like to break my shoes in gently rather than them break me. I have to say that even though I've had my Converse for a few years now, even they tweak my little toe every now and then.

    2. Thanks for the tips! I'll wear them in the house at first to break them in. I'm usually okay with shoes, though - bulletproof feet from being a Dr Martens fan as a teenager!

  8. See, I really like these on others, but on me...let's just say that I look like a butch lesbian (not that there's anything wrong with butch lesbians...but it's just not the look I'm going for :D ). I don't get it, others look cool and modern in them and I just...ah...I'm not gonna go there.

    1. And yet I can totally see you rocking a pair of the leopard ones. Speaking of butch lesbians, I know someone who once said that Crocs were for lesbians. His wife has a pair now ... as does he. And I know what you mean about some people look really cool in some stuff and some people just don't. I'm usually the latter (age might have a lot to do with it).

  9. I'm totally on the comfy shoe vibe recently. Living in my Nike rosheruns so why not add some slipons the the family? Love me a leopard print anyway! Head over heels with the Studio Nicholson lookbook!

  10. Do you know, you might even tempt this trainer-free girl with these. I've loved my espadrilles all summer so these look perfect for autumn...please model them for us soon so I can suss them out more. Ax

    1. Tempt you in to a pair of these? That's a toughie! Espadrilles are a different ball game altogether compared to these and I love my espadrilles. I'll see what I can do. No promises.

  11. Aah, how has this trend passed me by completely? PONYHAIR, I love it! I'm sure I will buy a pair in two years or so, as I am always way too late to the shoe-party. I only bought brogues this spring!

    1. I'm still trying on the brogue front. 3 years and counting.

It's the strokeability factor with these. It's irresistable.

  13. Whew! The Next leopard ones are too big for me. Thank goodness or else I'll have to get them. Anything that's close to the ground with leopard print has my name on it. Totally love the examples you gave including Steph's on how to wear them. I've got to dig out my black skinny pants from Zara.

  16. YOU slow off the mark?! Nah - that accolade belongs to me and my boyfriend jeans ;-)
And in the same vein, I will love these slippers next year this time... but for now I need to 'absorb'.... x

  17. wow Sue great minds really do think alike!! can't believe you posted these at the same time I was making my Studio Nicholson post, I was so coveting a pair of animal slip-ons and you presented me with the answer right away! :D

I love these and have copied off you straight away by ordering some. my first ordering experience from Next and I have to say I'm not entirely impressed with their customer service - not only did they process the order twice and charge me double delivery to courier the items to my house rather than the store which is over the road (which would have been free) - but they opened a credit account without my permission! apparently all Next need to create a credit account is an email address and a postcode... who knew!? they were quite rude to me on the phone when I rang up to try and sort it out too, not good.

oh well, I'll be happy when they finally arrive I hope! now all I need is some slouchy black pants and a big white shirt like in the lookbook :)

can't wait to see how you style these! x

    1. Oh that's not good for you re the Next delivery and everything. I set up an account ages ago so it wasn't a problem for me and I have to say I've not had any problems to date (especially with double delivery charges and rude service). I hope they're worth it when you get them. And as for styling - how will you be wearing yours? I have to say I was going to treat mine just like my Cons - just an easy pump to slip on and off (I swear I'm getting lazier by the day). Styling wise - I think the simpler the better - they go a treat with monochrome palettes and will be lovely for autumn.

  18. I LOVE these. I am a sucker for anything ponyhair. Alas I am guessing the shipping to the US will be as much as the shoes so I will have to admire from afar.

Also, I feel you on the brogues. I am still trying to get on board, a good 3 years after the trend reached critical mass.

    1. I really don't suit brogues and I have really really tried. I'm going with loafers instead - somewhat more forgiving on my legs.

    1. I don't really shop in Next but because I park my car outside the store to get to the main shopping centre, I sometimes see things in passing. But it just goes to show - you never know what they have - like pony hair slip ons for instance.

  20. As soon as my pay check comes through tomorrow Im getting these beauts! Silly next putting the black line around the white platform but I will forgive them just this once. Absolute gem of a find! You've saved me a lot of hours procrastinating on ebay. You are a dissertation-saver! Big big thank you!
