Blue, White, Grey and a Smidgeon of Green.

Saturday, 11 May 2013

It's been lovely the last few days. It didn't last of course. That would be asking too much of the English weather. But last Saturday, before the really good weather hit, I wore this :

H&M Scarf, Zara Jacket, Gap Jeans,  Boden Jumper, Zatchels Bag, Susie So So Bracelet, New Look Pumps

For a trip to the Wetherby Whaler. For fish and chips. The food of choice of my Ben. Could be worse - we could have been heading for a Maccy D's. This, believe it or not is the first outing for my white Zara jacket. I am nothing if not slow off the mark. Quick to buy, slow to wear. I know I said this was not a jacket for wearing around the kids but hey, if not with the kids - when? I don't get out that much. And besides, it's had it's first outing now which means it's not sacred anymore. I'm kind of getting behind this navy and white grey thing as well - it's kind of clean and crisp looking. I like. Oh yes, and the green wrap bracelet - this is my new favourite colour.  Sea green, sea foam, bluey aqua tones. I just like the way, green works against blue. So I made myself a bracelet. Useful when you know how.

Verdict on the white jacket. Love. Makes me feel really pulled together and it just lifts everything you wear.

Verdict on the Zatchels bag. Lovely design, hardwearing leather but would love a fake magnetic fastening to make it really easy to use. The size small is compact and doesn't fit my regular purse in but then again my regular purse is the size of a small bag - it needs to be, to hold all the receipts for all my returns. Seriously.

Anyway, if anyone likes anything, here's similar or the same as what I'm wearing (on a budget) ......

.... or for those who like a more kerching version!

Well it's good to dream isn't it? Both nice though eh?

  1. I much prefer your Zatchels bag to the chanel one, and I LOVE your scarf. I have such a thing for scarves, and have to really make sure not to go overboard and buy too many. I'm a year-around scarf'er!

    1. I used to be a year round scarf'er but I have started weaning myself off in the last couple of years. But not fully weaned off - that's a hard habit to break.

I have to say, in this instance, I actually prefer the look of the Zatchels as well but I don't think you could probably beat the leather on the Chanel. Good thing I'm happy with my lot.

    1. No I haven't but I would love to try. I think I'm losing the will with the H&M boyfriend jeans - I can't get used to the saggy crotch thing and they're not as flattering as my regular boyfriends or straights rolled up but I will give them one thing, they are comfy. And I don't understand why we are both still searching for boyfriend jeans despite having several pairs already. Tell me when you get the perfect pair.

  3. Love that bracelet! Am so nervous about wearing chains as the babies just yank them-that looks perfect! And the rest of the outfit is pretty good too :)I went to buy those NL pumps today but they were all out of my size-no fun!

    1. It's the perfect kind of jewellery to wear around children. It doesn't rattle around, it doesn't catch. I changed to simpler jewellery (totally ignored neck candy) because I was worried about scratching the children when they were really small when you cuddle them and also because they would and could tug and break anything you had on. And I guess I never went back.

Oh and shame about the pumps but there's lot of nude pumps around.

  4. Your jacket is going to be so useful throughout the summer with our ever changing weather and I love the addition of the lightweight scarf too - the colours all look great together. You made me smile with the big purse containing all your receipts for returns. What would we do if we couldn't return!

    1. I know I'd be poor with an overflowing wardrobe. Oh - I am. Doh!

Yes, the scarf is a good little buy - cheap but fab (for me anyway).

    1. Try and find one with a magnetic fastening though! Having said that, it's not that bad even if you don't buckle so it is quite manageable. You'd suit the pewter one - a little bit more zingy for you.

  6. oooh I love this outfit - I have very very very similar items in my wardrobe that I would never have thought to put on together - so thank you!
    Is the grey scarf current?

    1. The grey scarf is actually navy with a dot fan pattern print on it which probably looks grey on screen but in real life is true navy with white. I look forward to seeing your outfit on Avenue 57.

  7. Oh you look lovely. The bag and scarf really pull it together fabulously. LOVE that jacket-looks just as amazing on you. Envious and going to scour the Zara's in France to find it! Oh and you read my mind with the Zatchels comment. The first thing I thought was 'that buckle would annoy me a bit'. And that's why I don't have a satchel. Obviously great for putting off a pick-pocket but when holding onto kids and needing to pay for something or grab a tissue - fast access needed to the handbag! x

    1. My jacket has gone off the website now hasn't it? If you really want it, drop me a line - I saw it still in our local Zara last week.

And yes, I'm used to easy access handbags too. I'm slowly learning to size down my bags - I'm getting there.

  8. Ah the sunshine didn't last long did it? we're back in the cold today... :(

I love this look so much - blue white and grey is a beautiful combination. I tried to go get this scarf from H&M (I'm such a copycat!) but alas, neither of my local stores seem to be getting it in!

I love love love your wrap bracelet! when will I be able to buy one!? :) x

    1. It didn't last at all did it Fen? I hope you're settling in well in your new place!

I've not seen the scarf in the shops either and only online. It would seem pointless to order one scarf and then whack on extra postage but even then, it probably only comes to £10 or thereabouts altogether.

Wrap bracelet ... coming soon. Taking pics this afternoon!

  9. I love those colours together! You styled the jacket really well and it looks great. I have a vintage ivory tweed CC jacket that would be perfect for this cool spell we're having but need to work out how best to wear it in the context of my bf jeans and casual outfits.

    1. They are very classic colours and it's been a long time since I've embraced this colour combination together. I do navy and white together as stripes but it's only been in the last year or so that I've enjoyed wearing navy - especially navy accessories. The lovely thing about the jacket is that the sleeves are roomy enough to let me wear a jumper comfortably underneath.

  10. Less is more! Love this outfit! I'm waiting for my bag to arrive in brown but now I'm wishing I'd ordered navy blue, and the wrap bracelet is fab too. Wetwang fish and chips is the choice for my kids and then drive onto the wolds and have a picnic (weather permitting!) x

    1. I had to look up the Wetwang place - never heard of that but have just googled and it looks yummy

Brown is a good colour for the bag too and you can always pick up a navy one later if you like the brown. For some reason, I toyed between the tan and navy for a long time going for the classic colours over the pewter but it was a tough decision. Too many lovely colours!

    1. I can see you wearing this but with skinny jeans instead. It's a little smarter than my usual attire. Or it feels smarter because of the white jacket.

The bracelet was originally just a one off but I will continue it - I just liked the colours and wanted to see how the combination of greens worked but I particularly liked the way it stood out from the rest of the outfit but in a more subtle way than the usual bright colour pops.

    1. They're similar but very opposite in terms of price. But nice pieces in both sets. But I have to say if you look in close detail at the Lanvin pumps in the second set, they look to be of the gorgeous sumptuously soft leather. I love those and I would if I could.

  13. Love all of this, and the collages are perfect. I am so tired of the cold and rain, too, but this is a great solution for those in between days. I've actually ventured into dresses recently, so am hoping for more sun!

Adore the satchel, too. Do you think they keep their shape well? I have such bad experience with saddle/satchel bags (sagging in the back) but these look lovely and structured.

    1. Thanks Louise - this is one look that you probably have all the bits for - the white jacket, Boden jumper, Margaret Howell scarf. Would love to see you in a mash up of this.

And I've seen your new Jaegar dress - so jealous and it will look lovely on you. Let's hope for warmer weather again so you get your wear out of it. I'm not good with dresses or rather I'm not good until the weather is really good.

The Zatchels bag is that old school satchel stiff type leather so keeps it's shape brilliantly. This is one bag that won't sag at all. Brilliant as long as you can handle the buckle.

  14. Also, is your bag one of the tiny or medium sized?

    1. I got mine in the small but because it's rigid, it feels a little smaller inside. Can put a couple of basics in there - packet of tissues, keys, phone and a small purse. I just liked the look of the smaller size for me.

  15. I really want a bag like yours but you and my friend (who has the 11" Cambridge Satchel) have both said the same thing about the fastening, yes I know its traditional but I am normally running for a train so just think it will drive me (and all the commuters behind me at the ticket barrier/machine) a bit bonkers, shame as I love this style & size. I cant wean myself off scarfs, I am a fully confessed scarf addict now :) If you can find Current/Elliot or JBrand boyfriends in the sale get them - I picked up JBrand Aidens for £49 and Current/Elliot Loved Super Distressed for £30 - they don't loose their shape but you do need to go down a size with CE. Love this look - cool casual chic :)

    1. You need to tell me where to find these CE and JBrand boyfriends. I would seriously love a really good pair. My H&M ones are doing my head in currently because they have this tiny bit of drop at the crotch which is just not happening for me.

And the bag fastening? Maybe I should feed back?

  17. awww i really like the shape of these jeans! I'm on a hunt for a decent pair and I was thinking i wanted super skinny but your post has made me rethink! I agree that the white jacket lifts it all... not sure I could trust myself not to spill on a light coloured jacket though!! I have a couple cream and pale ones and I always have to be EXTRA careful in them..

    1. I was chancing it a bit with the white jacket, two boys and fish and chips but it survived with no grease on it or anything else for that matter.

The jeans - these are quite a smart boyfriend jean from Gap - no rips, no distressing and just a darker shade. I'm not sure how I feel about them but they work here with this outfit for something a little smarter. I'm normally a dressed down scruff. Shame you don't fit in to those Warehouse ones on your giveaway.

    1. I have to say, I wouldn't dare spend a lot on a white jacket for fear of the worst happening to it. But the Chloe one is very nice isn't it?

  19. I really love the look you have put together, looks comfy and stylish. Think I need to buy the kerching version! I have been searching for boyfriend jeans for months and those ones look perfect, scared of the price though!

    1. The J Brand ones are rather kerching aren't they? I didn't realise how difficult boyfriend jeans were to buy till I tried for myself. I'd always been happy with my straights rolled up and I realise now, they actually look better on me than true boyfriend labelled ones.

  22. Hello :) Can you help me?
I can't decide which size of this bag I need.
Which size you bag is: 23.5x19 or 29.5x22?
    Thank you.

    1. I went for the 23.5 one. The size small. It doesn't fit a lot in and is quite stiff leather but that's just the style that it is. Hope that helps!
