The Only Way to Travel ....

Friday, 1 March 2013

home after the school run is on your too small son's bike.

I want the bigger version of this bike!

I can just about ride this without banging my knees on my handle bars. I had a hell of a job with his previous bike but I managed that one too but with bruised knees. Because sometimes it's just too hard to push one of these things the 15 minute journey home.

Following on from the previous post and declaring that yellow was my other favourite colour, I thought I'd wear my yellow mohair scarf today. This is a kicking back outfit today. Actually, it's my outfit most days. Jumper and jeans. Tried and tested for comfort. Works well with small bikes.

Authentic dye transferred Converse

I've assigned this pair of Converse to the H&M Low Skinny Jeans. No point fretting over stained sneakers! After all, I've seen that people pay good money to buy them like this.

Keeping it short and sweet. Less is more. Hope you all have a good Friday and weekend!

  1. You're a nutter:) Love the photo of you with your son! The yellow scarf is fab - I meant to comment yesterday - I've been told I can't 'do' yellow as my skin tone is 'blue'!? Still tempted to give it a go:) Glad the polish was what you were looking for - can't wait to see the manicure!

    1. You might have to wait a while for the manicure to happen. Broke another nail today and the hands are looking pretty rough again :o(

I've never had one of those colour consultations done - I'd probably wouldn't listen to what they tell me and buy everything they tell me not to. Because I'm like that :o)

  2. I knew it, a dash of yellows looks so good with the greys and blue! My kids get to lock their vehicles at school thank goodness. I was going to splach out on some all white Converse but found some in Zara kids that look will serve the purpose (for once not complaining about my tiny shoe size!).
    Have a great weekend!

    1. The colours just work don't they? Not in your face but just enough. I think I'm also going to buy myself a pair of white cheapy Converse lookalikes which I can wear with the H&M jeans - that way, I can save my pair of good white Converse to wear with boyfriend jeans which are less likely to stain as the hems will be rolled up.

We do have a bike rack at school where you can lock up the bikes but I just thought it would be nice to cycle home with George. And it makes a nice change from running behind his bike.

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

    1. I'm looking forward to when he gets his next bike - that one should be a doddle to ride compared to this one. I can ride it okay but find stopping a little precarious when George suddenly brakes.

Have a good weekend Avril. Chill out.

    1. It is hard work - I agree. My left leg gets quite tired despite the right leg doing the work weird as it sounds.

      Have a good weekend Claire.

  5. I have a new found love for yellow after seeing the accessories on the Sass and Bide runway, it also happens to be my boys favourite colour, which is weird but hey ho!

    1. Now that's a bit unusual - a boys favourite colour being yellow. I have that automatic mindset thing that they will just say blue. And that a girl's favourite colour is pink. A little bit narrow minded perhaps but I've had no small people around me disproving me so far.

      Have a good weekend Sharron.

    1. I love chartreuse. I can't wear all versions of it but this scarf hits a nice balance and has a little zing about it in real life. It isn't that evident in the photos.

Will pop over to see your green post. Hope you have a great weekend Jody.

    1. Hey - well what can I say - two full face photos this week - what is the world coming to? But don't think I'm going to make this a habit ;o)

You have a great weekend Helen!

  8. The H&M scarf is lovely. My mum would approve of it - she likes me to wear brighter colours next to my face! 'Kicking back outfit! - love it - I live in kicking back jumpers and jeans constantly (tshirt and jeans in summer). Would never be able to ride a bike these days though - I'd fall off and it's all uphill to school anyway! Have a good weekend Sue! :)

    1. This beige/taupe cashmere one is one of my staples. I buy supermarket cashmere as it means I get the luxury of wearing something soft and luxurious on a budget. You pay just as much for designer lambswool but you get extra itch factor which I'm not keen on.

And you know what they say - you never forget how to ride a bike. Get on one now and give it a go.

  9. Such a cute pic of you and your boy! Yellow is definitely a good colour for you. I say bugger the stains on converse. Hell shoes are suppose to be lived in and as you said, people would pay good money for that look :) Have a great weekend Sue.

    1. I've come to realise Converse are not Converse until they've been loved and worn a little. So I'm giving mine a bit of love and wear. After all I've had them nearly 4 years and they're only now coming in to their own.

You have a great weekend too Mandi, kicking back in your killer lace heels!

    1. Natalie,I don't know when they last did cashmere but my jumpers are quite a few years old but still going strong. Lucky I know my sister has a spare one she's not worn yet :o) should any of mine ever wear out.

  11. Love the photos you you both on your bikes - its nice to actually see your face:) Its amazing how a drop of colour in the scarf really fiishes off your outfit! Looking cool even cycling on a too small bike on the school run - kudos! I went with colour yesterday for my new ski jacket and got a soft organge (my fav bright colour;)Enjoy the weekend.

    1. And as you can see - I'm still in my Converse! The Blazers have gone back for the time being. I'm still on the sneaker hunt but in no hurry.

Soft orange - now that's not a colour you see often on a ski jacket but at least you won't get lost in the snow. Hope you had a lovely weekend.

  12. I remember the BMX like bike! Can't believe you can still pedal on a kid's bike!!! You've reminded me to check out more lemon yellow shade. I hope the color won't turn my skin tone more sallow

    1. That's because I'm a short bum and have short legs. It will be great when Ben moves up another bike size though or maybe it's about time I invested in my own.

Get the right yellow and you will look fabulous!
