Snow, CDG Stripe Tee and Defiance

Saturday, 23 March 2013

Snow. I spit on you. PAH! I laugh in your white face and will not acknowledge that you are lurking outside my front door. All four inches of you. I will ignore you and PRETEND that the real March has not been abducted by January and that the buds are budding and the leaves are forming and the daffs have sprung. And in my make believe spring world, I am wearing the following :

CDG Play Tee, H&M Denim Skirt, Gap Trench, Swedish Hasbeens for H&M

IN YOUR FACE SNOW!!!!!
(no toes were harmed in the making of this post)
(today I went out in wellies and snow gear because I am not that loony)

  1. You didn't actually go outside in the snow like that, did you? I get cold just thinking about it!

I have those exact same shoes. How excited were you to get Hasbeens at H&M prices? I was over the moon. Plus they're super comfortable, right? My only gripe is that the label stickers came off and now the inside wood part looks less than lovely. But once my feet are in them no one can tell!

    1. I'm not a total loony you know. I did say I was pretending we were having a real March with spring like weather. This is what I wish I could wear right now. I confess - I saw the red Swedish Hasbeens on your blog and did a search for them and got them for about £20 new which I thought was a pretty good price. I've not had the opportunity to wear them yet but I'm looking forward to clopping down the street in them when the weather is kinder.

    2. Really?! I'm so flattered and honored to have caused you to seek them out! You're going to love them, they're super comfy. Can't believe you found them after all this time... Soon you will know the joy of the hasbeen, and the even greater joy of the hasbeen for cheap! Haha...

    3. I never used to take much notice of the H&M collaborations and the only one I bought from was the Marni one. I saw the Madonna one and I just thought it was awful and I never looked at another one till the Marni one came along as it looked a little more wearable and I liked the prints. I totally missed the CDG one and the Swedish Hasbeens but I'm not sure I would have picked up on them at the time anyway. My tastes change from year to year but I think I'm a secret seventies chick. I love the Marc Jacobs sandals you have too but that one would have been way too hard to track down. I hope these are super comfy because to look at they make me feel super happy. Here's to happy wearing!

  2. I love that top, the skirt (check out the waistband!) and the trench coat - a really fab look. Now go and put your thermals on!

Is the skirt a recent H&M purchase?

    1. It was a purchase from last year. I kind of fell in love with the retro details and was delighted to find it in H&M which always makes things much more affordable. But look what I've just found http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/denim-h-m-skirt-10-/350745064581?pt=UK_Women_s_Skirts&hash=item51aa08f485 with 2 days to go. On your marks.....

  3. Legs!!!! We have wet , drizzly horrid rain here- the sort that makes my hair the size of a explosion in a wire wool factory. Love the splash of red.

    1. We have oodles of snow and I'm about to head out of the door soon all wrapped up warm complete with trapper hat. Yes, it really is that bad and I can't believe it's March. I feel a repercussion of last year's summer coming on.

  5. LOVE that skirt, has a real seventies feel & the detail at the waist is special - do you have a link? Hope you still make it to trinity despite the snow - let me know what you think. Someone told me yesterday that 1 new shop a week was opening for the next 6 months - thats a lot of shops, I didn't see that many empty units, although my visit was brief! x

    1. I actually bought it last year. I loved the waistband and it tickled me that Isabel Marant was doing plaited waistbands too http://susiesoso.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/denim-skirts.html.

There is the exact same skirt on Ebay currently which I was telling Fiona about above http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/denim-h-m-skirt-10-/350745064581?pt=UK_Women_s_Skirts&hash=item51aa08f485.

And I chickened out of going in to Leeds today - I couldn't face it. I will do it mid-week when there shouldn't be as many people to contend with. I saw the publicity pic of all the people in the centre and I was just thinking - hope the place doesn't cave in!

  6. Check out the legs on Sue!! Great look just a pity it wasn't weather appropriate. Im not heading out the door today so maybe I should just wear what I want like u regardless of weather, might cheer me up a bit.

    1. It is so weather inappropriate today. I've been out briefly and I was a vision in my black padded coat and trapper hat!

Even indoors - I'm still all wrapped up. I was just going through the wardrobe and thinking about what I actually want to wear. I want a bit of colour, fewer layers, the wind beneath my toes ... sort of :o)

  9. Oooh la la! Don't you look very French?! You're snowed under over there, we're rained out of it over here .. bloody hell, will it ever end? Cute, cute skirt btw:)

    1. Thank you Helen. I trust you had a nice birthday yesterday? Yes we're snowed under (but slowly melting) and I'm supposed to be going on an Easter Egg hunt tomorrow. As someone said, it should be easy, follow the footsteps in the snow and you'll know where the eggs were planted!

And a little bit French never hurt anyone did it?

  13. We've got between 6 and 8 inches of the dratted stuff. I love the skirt - it's just the right length to hide my ever-increasing thread veins - sorry too much info? Sandals look great but my toes are going white and then blue at the thought of them at the moment! Your legs look in good nick if I may say so - and I'm not being weird - it's just that mine resemble blotchy/mottled croc skin after being suffocated for so long (sorry too much info again?)- will take me a while to get them ready for exposure - don't have to worry about that just yet - sorry am waffling now! x

    1. Not too much info. I think age catches up with us all. Any much shorter and I reserve that for holidays abroad where exposed flesh in all it's guises seems so much more acceptable. And my legs are not that good - it's just that the lighting seems to be "soft focusing" them admirably. Sometimes, I'm so glad that I have only passable photos!

  15. I missed out on the Swedish Hasbeens for H&M, but am cruising a pair on Amazon that I think will end up on my front steps soon. Love the CDG tee, also. The little logo makes it so much more fun than your average stripey tee!

If it makes you feel any better... here in the southern U.S. it's cold then hot then cold leading everyone to mass illness. I say Spring For All! And soon!

    2. I took the inspro from your post a couple of weeks ago when you found an old picture of yourself as a child with your breton and flared jeans. I didn't do the flared jeans but I took on the 70's vibe with the skirt. Did I pass?

We have sun this morning but it's icy cold outside ... brrrr.

  16. Love his combination, and the colour of the sandals! It's such a shame that we can't even think about wearing them yet....I am so tired of triple layers, double thickness socks and the same old tired-out boots. I'm sure that I've actually forgotten what my body looks like beneath all of this padding..not even worth the effort of painting toenails! We have about 7 inches of snow here, and still growing. The very thought of summer clothes seems like so so far away..x

Yes, it's such a shame that I'm not able to amble outside in the above ensemble and instead I will be shuffling out in a heattech vest, jumper and wellies. I am so sick of layers. Will this winter never end???

    1. I don't know what's going on with the weather - it's horrid. Snow is nice in January but not in March when we are all supposed to be shedding the winter layers and prancing around in light layers. I give up!

  25. Yes, I most definitely want some hasbeens now, they look so fabulous. Need to steal your style and get them in red too.

    1. The red makes them stand out don't they? My natural instinct when going for something like this is either white or tan but after seeing them on Defnes blog, I wanted the sames ones and just be chance I spotted a new pair on Ebay in my size. It was fate!
