Scarfing Around

Jigsaw Ottoman Jumper (old but similar here)
Zara customised jeans (old)
H&M Scarf (available here)
Opening Ceremony Shoes (old)

I didn't intend to write a blog post about the scarf but I had a couple of comments on it on Instagram which set me off thinking that maybe I should. A couple of ladies commented that they couldn't wear wool as it was too itchy for them. There is that problem for some people just as there is the problem for some people who will only wear wool as they don't like the feel of synthetic fabrics. Me - I can do both #bestofbothworlds

I spotted this particular scarf when I was trawling through the Premium Quality section online on the H&M site. It's generally my first port of call when I'm bored with the "New In" bits and if you look carefully, you can pick up some nice bits from here. I have a black cashmere jumper (available here) in a just right side of slouchy not sloppy fit from here for £50. I will be wearing this a lot this winter - I just know it. And I hear the big cashmere scarves are a bit of a winner from people who have bought them like Belinda when she covered them off on Allwornout recently. For £35. Similar offerings in Zara would be pushing double that price.

Anyway, my scarf is this petrol hued one :

Which also comes in a lovely pale grey (great dupe for the Acne Canada scarf here but maybe not as soft).

The scarves are 100% wool and comes in a whopping size of 70cm x 200cm. That's a lot of wool scarfage for £30. But for those who can't do wool - I spotted this modal number from Jigsaw in a similar hue and size and some might prefer this for the tassels :

And Oasis have put in their offering of a textured weave scarf in green. This is 100% acrylic but the weave and fabric looks like it was born for doing a bit of fancy scarf tying.

Or if you can handle the wool, you could wait till midnight tonight and see if you can get your hands on this lambswool number from the New Lemaire with Uniqlo collaboration :

A cropped jumper which doubles up as a big scarf. Genius.

  1. What a great color on you, Sue! I can't believe you went for the green over the grey one-good for you for sticking to your guns and embracing this awesome seasonal color.

    1. Ha ha - that might be because I already have a big grey Acne dupe of a scarf which I got last year. But yes, the green is a lovely shade and works well on me - not too yellow in tone so lends itself well particularly to the grungey tones I favour.

  2. Love the colour on you Sue. Great scarf. We are now experiencing the most beautiful Indian Summer so my scarves have been put in the cupboard, for now. I am SO looking forward to wearing them. xx

    1. This one is ready and waiting though there was a distinct nip in the air. Even I winced a little at the mum who had a pair of flip flops on this morning on the school run.

    1. Thank you Lynne and I'm glad you can vouch for the H&M cashmere scarves. I think I might have to invest in one myself - I tend to go for the big guns scarves rather than the more dressy scarves these days when I need to wear one. And I'm loving the green on this scarf - it could not be more perfect.

  4. You really suit green and I have just clicked on the cashmere scarf from H&M that Belinda has recommended ..... looks fab for £34.99, I recently tried a camel cashmere one on in m&S £45, disappointed, hardly nothing to it, like you if I do a scarf I like them large. Totally see you in the Uniqlo & Lemaire Collaboration one, I think we will be seeing that on here soon :)?

    1. I think it depends on the shade of green. Kermit green might be a whole different ball game on me.

And guess what? I have nada from the Uniqlo Lemaire collection. I put the cream square jumper in my basket but didn't click buy and then when I went to check on my basket, it had sold out. C'est la vie. I think I part scratched my itch for this lovely shade of green with this scarf or else I would have been spitting feathers at missing out on the scarf jumper!

  5. Superb scarfage Sue! This is the ideal way for me to stay in my jackets.....without the need to don a coat until November! Great inspiration for me! The green does look amazing on you, it's a colour I need to try next to my face to see if it suits me! xx

    1. Oh yes, wrap a big scarf round you for now and eek out those jackets for a bit longer. I'm a bit rubbish, I am so nesh, I tend to jump straight in to coats and be done with.

I think this is very workable colour for your wardrobe but it does depend on how it looks against the skin doesn't it? I never give it that much thought and just think whether I like it or not.

  6. Love the scarf - colour looks great on you!! Do you mind me asking about the sizing on the H&M cashmere jumper? Am very tempted indeed!!

    1. I bought mine in a size small but I also tried on the size medium and there really wasn't much in it. I eventually went with the size small (I am a size 10) as I thought it just looked a little better fit on me but still not managed to cling around the middle which I dislike. I don't do fitted jumpers - I eat too many doughnuts :)

    2. Oh and if you look on this post http://susiesoso.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/bag-lady_18.html that is the black cashmere jumper if you want to see what the fit is like.

  8. That scarf is fabulous on you (and I like your shoes too). I had no idea H&M had a "Premium Quality" section, and I am tempted by the gray version of your scarf. (The Acne version is on my Christmas wishlist.)

    1. Thank you. I was doing a bit of a clear out the other day of my shoes and came across these again and it struck me how well they went with the scarf so I made use of them.

And I love the H&M Premium section, I just wish they stocked more of it in the stores. It's definitely worth a peruse to see what you can find. The Acne scarf is on a list of "would be nice to have" - I have no will power for saving up.
