Three Shades of Grey and A New Bag

Wednesday 9 January 2013

On Monday it was the start of a new school term. Big Smile.

This meant that I was kids free for several hours and I had some much needed time to crack on with the housey things which have been haunting me since the Christmas Day bomb.

Boden Must Have Jumper (SS12)
New Look Stripey Top (SS12)
New Look Jeans (Sister Cast Offs)
Primark Mens Fleece Scarf (old)

So nothing here to rock your boat. Sorry. This is just me pootling around the house. I've not even got a pretty or exciting scarf on - just a little £1 grey fleece scarf I picked up from Primark years ago and which I can loop round my neck to keep out the chill. The beauty of a little scarf like this though is that it doesn't get in your way. The ends don't trail in the dishwasher or get caught in the fridge - it just does its job i.e. it keeps your neck warm.

The jeans are a New Look pair which my sister threw at me saying "These will fit you - you've got a big bum!" And the grey Boden Must Have jumper was bought last summer. It's nice. It's grey. I don't know what else I can say about it apart from ........ it's nice, it's grey!

Oh yes. And a pair of Uggy slippers! I should be shot and cast out of blogsphere just for featuring my slippers shouldn't I?

Costco Kirkland Sheepskin Boots (AW2011)

And let's not forget .... my new bag!

Poundland Laundry Bag (£1)

Somehow I don't see you all beating down the doors at Poundland to get yourself one of these despite its bargainous price. But it goes well with the outfit doesn't it? Big day of laundry and ironing as you can tell ... this is real life.

------------------------------

Last Note.

Just wondering - on the days when you are wearing nothing special - do you not bother to post or do you wait until you have something a little "more exciting" on? Sometimes I just like to see people looking really normal and telling it like it is - makes me feel I'm in good company :o)

  1. To answer your question... if I'm at pottering around at home cleaning and what not I have nothing special on and if I am working I am too busy to photograph and post. I pretty much tear my clothes off as soon as I walk in the door, feed the cats and cook dinner... also living the real life over here :)

    3. Haha... I'm the same though. No, not a nudist. But I come home and strip off my pants and put on my pjs. And no one wants to see that online.

    4. I have days where the Grumps leaves home and I'm in pj's. He comes home and I'm in pj's. I did get changed in between but only because I have to, to leave the house for the school run.

  2. You wouldn't want to see me today - hair scraped back with conditioner on , but now can't be bothered to wash it off. Leggings that are too baggy at the knees, Old white top with bleach stains cus I'm cleaning and a big cardy cus it's cold and I'm too tight to put the heating on! Oh and pink sheepskin slippers. What a picture. You look lovely! Off to cook meatballs.

    1. I have been known to wear shorts and flip flops to clean the showers! I was ironing when I took these pictures so it wasn't a heavy duty day. If it had been one of those days - there would have been no pictures! You must be a vision at the moment cooking meatballs!

  3. Lol @ everyone! If I had to wait until I wore something 'special' that would only be at xmas and weddings....hmmm! I love seeing normal everyday outfits and hope people are also interested in mine :-) Was writing a post about what I look for in a blog because blogs have helped me so much to find my way back from the fashion wilderness. I just can't identify with those who post outfits with 4+ inch heels all the time even when they are supposed to be sightseeing on cobbled streets :-)
I really your slippers - I need some proper ones to keep my feet warm!

    2. I love seeing what real people wear and I love seeing different styles. I think we all make a little effort infront of the camera and that's part of what having a blog is helping me to do - get my mojo back and take care of myself more. I have nice clothes - just got to wear them a bit more instead of the same old same old. I like seeing the 4inch heels on people but it always amazes me when people say they are comfortable. Really???

  4. Well look at you all coordinated whilst doing the laundry! Dear Lord, I wouldn't dare to post a pic of myself when I'm in the midst of domestic drudgery. Not a look that anyone wants to see. Incidentally, I really like the jumper. Lovely colour (and I too wear uggs around the house when nobody can see me!)

    1. I'm co-ordinated because nearly all my entire wardrobe is grey - I'm nearly at fifty shades of grey I kid you not! On a proper cleaning day - the baggy joggy bots come out - that is not a sight to inflict upon any one!

  5. I still try to post but if I'm in joggy bots I don't bother with a photo:) I have that jumper too and love it - soft and comfy - I love it layered over a striped top like you're wearing it...I'm THRILLED my kids are back at school.

    1. Oh me too! Me too! I don't need to listen to any more wailing or demands from the terrible trio (includes Grumps). I should have guessed that you would have the jumper!

  6. As I am a bit of a hermit these days and no longer have to get dressed for the school run, I am normally to be found in clothes that are far from blog worthy and my blog was never meant to be a daily outfit kind of thing, I really wanted to talk about fashion not be posing in my own clothes unless I have to!

    1. I don't know what my blog is so kind of anything goes. I've never really done style tips, more a running commentary - I don't know enough about fashion to talk fashion. I wish I did though.

  7. Your outfit is what normal women wear 90 % of the time and good to see. Like the scarf tip ESP since I just set the end of mine on fire over the gas while stirring cheese sauce......could have been nasty, sad about scarf!!!!!!

    1. Ha ha! I save the long and big scarves for the outdoors - I've nearly strangled myself too many times in the house to try wearing them when doing "activities". I could wear a snood but I can't shake off the eighties connotations. Not even Kylie put that right.

  8. Great post - am often sadly guilty of 'forgetting' to blog when I have old / unexciting stuff on - but you have inspired me to 'tell it like it is' - stand by for some doubtless rather grotesque items :-) x

    1. Can't wait! I'm just aware that I don't go swanning around in pretty blouses and heels most of the time and infact most of the time, I'm just in a slobby jumper and jeans. I see a lot of perfection in a lot of blogs - sometimes it's interesting to know there are other people just like me - just normal.

  9. I tend to dress a bit better while slobbing around now because I know no one wants to see me in trackie bottoms. But I don't think you have to be dressed up all the time when blogging, it's nice to see what people wear when casual too. I don't tend to post work outfits as Im straight into trackie bottoms and elbows deep in dinner and bedtime as soon as I come home.

Loving the grey with the denim one of my favourite combos.

  10. It may be a pottering around the house cleaning outfit, but its put together beautifully! I actually love the look. I'm big on grey tops, but only have t's and wool cardigans, may keep a look out for a jumper now:)

  11. Great outfit. This is just the kind of thing I feel most comfortable in. And I love looking at everyday outfits as well as the fancy ones - great to have a nosy at what other people wear.

  12. I had similar on yesterday and I posted! I love casual days :-) I'm having a few too many at the moment!!

That bag is BRILLIANT! I am literally running to get one. I still don't understand why UK houses have laundry rooms downstairs .. we should be like a lot of US houses where laundry rooms are upstairs - makes total sense to me!!

    1. Now that you've said it - you're right. I wish I had a dedicated laundry room - oh the things I could hide in there! It would double up as an extra wardrobe.
