Fleece

Friday 6 March 2015

Okay, today it is a lovely day and the sun is out loud and proud. But the other day - hmm - not so warm, not so good, a little bit dull and a whole lot of cold. See ....

Uniqlo Fleece(y) Coat (last season), Uniqlo plaid shirt (last season), Uniqlo Down Jacket, Topshop Baxters, Adidas Stan Smiths.

I had to err on the side of warmth and practicality with jeans and a Uniqlo plaid flannel shirt. On top is a navy Uniqlo ULD jacket  and on top of that - the piece de resistance ... a Uniqlo fleece(y). coat!

Okay, don't recoil in horror or anything. I know that fleeces are the scourge of many a true fashionista but you know what? This is not really a fleece. It's a peacoat which is made from a fleece like fabric, looks a lot like a fleece and is as warm as a fleece. But NOT a fleece.

That's my stance. I'm not budging.

Last Note :

  • I'm currently really liking the biker version of the Uniqlo ULD Down jackets. A lot.

  • Hands up those people who actually do wear fleeces at home. Emoji

  1. I managed to get rid of them. I did have them but I bit my lip and out they went. (I confess to keeping one Musto fleece. This just in case I ever get on a horse again.) I would not class your Uniqlo coat as a fleece either. x

    1. I used to have a few (more in the early days of motherhood) and gradually have been running down the stash as they have got past their best. I've not bought one in years as the (fleece(y) coat does not count). I held on to an old Arcteryx one incase I should be dragged kicking and screaming up a mountain or hill in the name of exercise but only because I paid good money for that and it's a more technical garment. Excuses, excuses.

  2. You're funny! And there might just be one grey ancient fleece that gets dragged out every now and then! But don't tell anyone ...

    1. I saw it early on but couldn't justify it as I already have two ULD jackets. I saw them properly last Sunday in store so had a bit of a try on and have now convinced myself that I need one like I need a hole in my head. Doh. But they are useful little numbers these ULD jackets aren't they?

  4. Fleece ..... I have to say I have never owned one, the feel of them go through me. I love your Uniqlo down jacket, especially when you layer it under coats. BWT your coat looks fur not fleece and it is a great outfit as usual. ;)

    1. I have to say I am rather tempted by the biker version too - I've just realised that they are my alternative to a fleece! And the peacoat - I wish I'd also bought the beige version in a large size - it would have looked like a teddy fur coat actually. And they are super warm!

  5. It is always Uniqlo fleece that is my go-to coat when it's freezing! And no they don't look like fleece....mine is shaggy and almost looks like fur, it really is toasty for battling the elements! I love the look of the ULD biker jacket, I shall be checking that one out! xx

    1. Well I really liked it as it was rather teddy like - I'm still kicking myself for not buying the beige one then I could have really done the teddy thing properly. They are super warm and light - like a big furry hug. And the ULD jackets - they are brilliant. My god-daughter and god-son are converts.

  6. Crikey Sue, all these posts - I can't keep up! ;-) LOVE that biker style ULD, am off to investigate. Fleece was my go-to fabric when we had a dog, but I don't have to get up at stupid o'clock and brave the freezing cold with him any more, so I am now a fleece-free zone! (My fleeces didn't look quite as smart as yours does) xx

    1. Oh I don't envy you on the early dog walking stuff - eugh. Part of the reason why I don't have a dog actually ... and the walking in the rain, and the poop scooping. But I know they give you a lot back.

And so you are now a fleece free zone - you're a stronger woman than I.

    1. Well since I've been running down my stash of fleeces over the last few years, I've been turning to the ULD jackets - I love them for their practicality.

  8. Looks lovely Sue! I didn't know they did such a coat so I'm going to keep an eye out in the sales now. Another vote for the ULD here too. Love mine! X

    1. The fleecy pea coats went down to £10 so they've all gone. I should have snaffled the beige version too so I could look like a proper teddy. And I love that you finally got your ULD jacket - I knew you were eyeing them up last year and now you've got yours. But then you start thinking - what style and colour should I get next???

  9. Oh I got that peacoat then returned it. It's so sweet.
Yeah I like the Uniqlo biker ULD too! I can imagine wearing it underneath my trench in the morning...

    1. Oh you returned yours. I actually bought it in beige in a size small and then sized up to a medium in the navy because I didn't like the dark buttons on a being background - weird little things which get me for some reason. But yep, I'm hoping they do an offer at some point on the biker ULD jacket and then I'm bagging one!
