Favourite Friday - APC Bag

Friday 7 September 2012
No flunking out this week.  This Friday, my APC Camo Leopard bag is making an appearance. The print is camo leopard which is the latest thing - an amalgamation of camouflage and leopard print, designed to confuse people so they don't know if it's camo or leopard and hence two trends in one. Okay, I fess up .... I've just made that bit up but its the only description I could come up with to describe the print on my APC bag.  It's technically leopard print but I think it has a touch of the camo about it (humour me) so I like to think I'm a happening momma when I carry it.  I don't use it that often as it has a pale background and made of canvas i.e. not good around kids.  But I like it when it comes out to play.  Grrr.

Camo Leopard - You heard about it here first!

I ummed and aahed over this bag for quite some time and watched it slowly come down in price on the NAP site.  And I pounced at the very last minute.  However, when it arrived, it was another bag that I was undecided about as the practical side of me said - it's cream, it's canvas - it will get mucky! But I liked it too much to send it back and to be honest gone are the days when I regularly bought a handbag .... infact I think this is my only handbag (cue gasps from bagaholics every where) purchase this year.  Nowadays the grey tatty bag goes everywhere with me and when I can be bothered, I have a switch just to make life a little more interesting for the more redundant ones.

This is more a Summer time bag because of the colours.  But now that Autumn is banging hard at the door .... the APC bag may have to make way for this little number :

Another camo leopard offering!  This time from Mango in an Autumn colourway.  It's grey (hey!) with the nice splodges of mustardy yellow (yum!) and affordable too at £34.99.  There's a cardigan version too if anyone is interested.  And a pinky background one for the girly amongst us (not me).

Don't be surprised if this makes a blog post in the near future.  Like the old MacDonalds saying "der na na na na.... I'm loving it!"

  1. I LOVE IT!! now green camo, that's something I can get on board with!!

I continually buy bags that are completely impractical for my lifestyle - I bought a bag from ebay yesterday which is made from cream coloured fluffy angora... it's going to get so grubby but I couldn't resist!

    1. Cream coloured fluffy angora. That's what I love about you - the unpredictability of it all. Actually I think I have a black marabou (very fluffy) handbag somewhere which has not seen daylight for some time. When I used to take it out, I found that men liked to pretend to wear it as a sporran or a busby. Hmmm. I used to work with very immature men.

    1. Only thing is I don't know what size I am. Mango can be a bit hit and miss with their sizing I find and sometimes i just can't be bothered to order different sizes and then deal with the returns. However, I do think this jumper would look great on you with skinnies and your grey Converse!

  4. Loving that bag - it's a great size and hey, what if it gets a bit grubby. You could probably sponge it down if you were into that sort of thing (sponging things down I mean - I'm not!) Ax

    1. It is a good size actually - even fits spare pants in for George - we cracked toilet training! Champers all around.

Hopefully I never get round to sponging down as long as the boys keep at arms length!

    2. Funny just thinking - I don't want my bag to get dirty but I don't mind if my white Converse do. Where's the logic in that?

    1. Camo - leopard - coming to a shop near you if not already arrived! I like it as it's quite a contemporary take on the usual leopard offerings. And why not rock two trends at once?? Cheaper too.

  6. It's lovely, a good size too and the strap & details are gorgeous. Just don't put it on the floor! Haha! Can it be washed? I do love APC accessories and shoes but their clothing has begun to confuse me. Sales really are am must.

I recall thinking the pattern was floral at first, and it could certainly pass for a sort of abstract floral if you ever lose the taste for camo, so yeh, multifunctional. It adds a lovely fresh touch to an already cute outfit. x

    1. I won't be putting this bag on the floor for definite. It doesn't look like it can be washed - sponged possibly but this is no washing machine job. I love looking at APC clothes - never bought any as I think some of the items which look so simple are exactly that (very little shape) and would do nothing for me whatsoever. But accessories - you don't need to be tall or thin for those.

I thought the colours were quite unusual which definitely was part of the appeal. It's actually quite a hard bag to carry as you actually have to co-ordinate your outfit to a certain degree whereas my grey fabric tatty bag goes with everything. I will be sad when that one gives up the ghost.

    1. Mine are nothing like yours but I am pleased with them. I'm just having fun working out what they go with in my wardrobe. Yours are usually considered purchases whereas mine tends to be on a whim. I'm sure they will be cropping up in a post soon.

    2. Ah..but they weren't a necessary purchase, so at least a semi-whim! I do have to plan for pants though as I don't have a great history of getting along with them. I'm just thrilled at the idea of green cords!

Also found these on another blogger (from Gap) and love them:

I love seeing how people style them.
And I know you will make them work!!:)

  8. I have to say that bag is a huge winner! I love the pattern and canvas is surprisingly hardy with marks so I'm sure it will serve you well for many years. Have a great weekend Sue

    1. Hi Mandi. You dancing and prancing in your lovely new Louboutins over there?

The bag is about as edgy as I get i.e. not very but I like it. Baby steps. One day I will rock something fierce and everybody will fall over in shock (probably from laughing). But until then, we'll just have a little bit of camo leopard. Grrr.

  9. Seeing that I'm now rather addicted to leopard print and anything camo goes down REALLY well with me too....I think this is a winner. The leather trim will get a nice patina from daily use. I'm sure any dirt (with the exception of pen marks) can be removed with magic eraser sponge. This mama will look FIERCE!

    1. Marlene - I am the most un-fierce person alive. A mere kitten in the fashion fierce stakes. More a mieow I think.

  10. Sue, I love that APC bag (I actually made a post about it after I saw it on NAP some time ago). I think you took the right the decision in keeping it. (Just avoid wearing it together with very dark denim because of colour transfer. Otherwise, I think it'll be fine.)

    1. Will heed sound advice. Currently, I like looking at it more than I like carrying it. It will come in to its own next year when we hopefully get a summer.
