H&M Scarf, Uniqlo Breton (old), Jack Wills Jeans (old), Office Shoes (old), Primark Coat (in store)

It was very cold yesterday and I was a total scruffy moo. Today, I smartened up a little because (1) it was warmer and (2) sometimes that's what you have to do even if you don't feel like it and all you want to do is hibernate under a cocoon parka. It just makes you feel better. As does lip gloss ;o)

Petite Bateau in Noir and Avalanche. Black and beige to you and me. Woohoo - Petite Bateau have finally launched a black stripe version of their iconic Breton. I think it's finally time for me to invest!

In teal but the grey which they also have is lush too. Just to lend a little colour into this monochromatic world we seem to live in. Huge and warm and can be used as a shawl too.

Because it's winter and you need a pair of classic black skinny jeans.

It is what it says and I particularly like this clean simple understated design. Falls in line with the minimalist styles I like looking at so much.

Mine's a cheap and cheerful but if I was still working, I would be looking at this coat. It has excellent reviews (I love reading reviews - more shops should have a section for reviews to help the customers) and can so easily be dressed up and down.

I was going to stick a pair of trainers on but thought there isn't much opportunity left to get a pair of shoes like this out now so let's go for it. My witchypoo shoes are from Office from last year but Topshop do a brilliant dupe this year.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

  1. Ahhh I need a coat like that so badly! Luckily I'll be in London for a few days next week and should have some time on my hands for shopping so I may have a look at Primark (which is more in my budget). I'm looking to find a navy or grey one-so we're not just yet going to end up owning all the same outerwear! I've just received my Madewell jacket btw and it is BIG. I'm trying to shrink it in the dryer as I type...

    1. The Jigsaw one is out of my budget for now but the Primark black one is quite good. It's the black version of the camel one I picked up earlier this season and I sized down to a 8 for a neater fit. I like coats like this but don't automatically reach for this sort of thing so I feel better that I don't have an expensive coat which I'm not getting the wear out of.

And what size did you buy the Madewell jacket in? Mine is an XS.

  2. That jigsaw coat is stunning, my sister in law has a beautiful D&G plain black coat of a similar style (she has had it for years) she wears it dressed up over evening dresses and then over jeans and a tee. The petit bateau black top, finally ....... I was looking all last night at a IM karon tee (Marlene's lasts post scratched a itch) but it navy and white and I much preferred the black stripe of the summer's arron top .... the £105 price has stopped me from purchasing, my bank balance would much rather me go for the boden black stripe you pointed out or this ...... oh decisions.

    1. I had a lovely black wool coat from M&S which I've had for many years with a Mongolian fur collar. I've just donated it to charity as the shape wasn't actually that flattering or fit me that well. I t kept the fur collar and that works beautifully on this little Primark number.

And I love navy stripe Bretons but I'm favouring the black tones more so for the winter. I have the Boden one and it's okay but I fear the neckline is a little off on mine so it has to go back. Never mind, maybe it wasn't to be.

  3. You do smart ever so well....tres chic Sue! It is lovely to dress up a bit now again, I know once the Parka is out all you will see is my coat, jeans and Converse! I look forward to the opportunities to glam up a bit! xx

    1. Well I live in my black parka but it has been mercilessly worn over the last couple of winters and it is quite a heavy number so I got a lighter one from Primark as a quick throw it on and so I can save the black one for the really cold days.

And I think I will be much the same in the pics over the winter. Coat, jeans and footwear of some nature for the next few months.

  5. I am totally smitten with that coat! And I know what you mean about just needing to smarten up once in a while. I've just managed to go a whole week without resorting to jeans, a kind of personal challenge to myself after I seemed to spend every day for a fortnight in denim and a shirt. I have felt much better for it, but I have to confess to being quite desperate to get the jeans back out now! Love the colour of that scarf on you btw xx

  6. That is such a cool outfit! But don't you get cold being barefoot in those shoes?
