Transition

Monday 14 September 2015

The old faithful Office Namesake boots are on.

Office Namesake Boots (old but similar here)

And it's official, I've transitioned. I've gone well and truly over to the dark side.

H&M Jumper, H&M Scarf, Jack Wills Jeans, Office Namesake Boots (all old)

A little whiff of mist in the morning, a couple of degrees drop in temperature and the black stuff comes out. It didn't take much.

-----------------------------

I've been asked about whether my Office boots are still available - alas no. Mine were bought in 2012 at the height of the Marant Mania when all bowed to her Dicker boot shrine. Mine are a tribute to those without looking too lookalikey. But this type of boot has gone the distance and each year, similar versions come out all the time.

I came across these New Look boots though which are very similar in detailing and colour and come with a heel which is slightly lower than mine which makes them even more wearable during the day.

I

These Next Boots are also a good dupe for mine with a similar shaped heel and height to my Office boots. Although my Office ones are not overly high, I really don't like to spend a whole day in them as the soles can be quite hard underneath. What I do to overcome this a little is put a fleecy insole in my pair which adds a bit of cushioning and also a bit of warmth in the winter months.

These ones from M&S are more of a stone grey and probably my favourite colour wise. They seem to be popular with everyone else as they seem to be selling out fast online. There's less detailing across the front but I do actually like the simplicity of these and the shape of the toe is not too blunt - a little more elegant. The colour is a lot more neutral and easy to work. Oh yes, they also have "stain away" protection so get jumping in those puddles #justjoking

And I seem to have developed a sudden fondness for my big black scarf. I don't feature scarves a lot on my blog which is quite surprising considering when I worked, I was known for always having something wrapped round my neck. I was a bit of a pashmina queen when pashminas were having their moment. We've moved on since and my black scarf is a cheapy I picked up from the H&M mens section a year or two back. Not expensive but very light and also very long and very big. And very plain.

This is also where I admit to my (now not so) secret Olsen twins scarf addiction hence the big wafty scarf.

To misquote old Will Shakespeare : "Though they be but little, they be fierce ... in the scarf stakes".

I want them all!

  1. I'm so happy to be back in A/W clothes, I'm much more in my comfort zone! And I love getting all my lovely warm scarves unpacked too. X

    1. I love it when it's not actually that cold but cold enough to pull on a layer but not a coat. I don't enjoy full on winter as I usually can't move from wearing my huge parka and Sorels.

  2. Last Winter it was all about the Converse hi-tops for me but this year I think it's going to be all about the boots! Love your Office Namesakes....they now have that perfectly worn in look about them! I think the Next ones look like a fab homage to the IM Dickers! I can see me stealing your style pretty pronto with all of the fab looks you are sharing here......feeling the scarf love all over again too! xx

    1. I used to love wearing scarves but fell out of love with a load of mine and got rid of a couple of bags of them to friends. I'm down to a few favourites but could do with a new one to inject a bit of life in to some outfits. And I love a bit of Olsen Twins fashion watching.

  3. Your office boots must have paid for themselves by now! The Next ones you have picked out are great homage, I am still in-between seasons with my clothes can't wait to go full on with autumn wear. x

    1. Well the weather is so interchangeable just within the day itself. Freezing and rainy in the morning and streaming sunshine in the afternoon. Calls for layers!

And yes, the boots have stood me in great stead. I nearly wavered with a new pair last year but decided I still liked my own pair better. That's when you know you have something good.

  4. Love this. I have tried on the Next boots and they are really good. I put them back because I have overdosed on my footwear spend (Stans and a grey boot from Jigsaw.) I have come to the conclusion that we hone in on the same things, quite often, which I hope you don't mind me saying. It happened today. I went into Primark to hunt down your' camel cardigan only to come away with a grey coat. It is the grey version of your' camel coat. I didn't twig until it was pointed out to me on Instagram. I am not a stalker, honest. H xx

    1. I haven't actually tried on the Next boots so I'm glad you can vouch for them. And I think you're right, we probably have a similar outlook on clothes - I like simple basics in general which can be dressed up or down. And I saw your grey coat on IG - it looks good! It's going to slot in your wardrobe just fine.

  5. Ah, lovely scarf, lovely boots. Just chucked out my first grey Zara pair as have now replaced with some jigsaw ones. Those £30 Zara boots more than earned their keep. Alas I splashed in too many puddles in them. Great choices! Xx

    1. For a cheap as chips scarf - it's serving me well - it has the perfect tie and waft factor. And Jigsaw do fabulous footwear - I've indulged in a fair bit over the years.

  6. I tried the Next ones just yesterday and I can confirm that they are lovely. I didn't buy because I have so many pairs, but I'm tempted to go back! Lynne xx

    1. Oh good - another verification of the Next boots. I'd be looking myself if I needed a pair!

  7. You look fabulous in black and camel Sue, and those New Look boots are beauties. If only I didn't have one (or two, or even three) too many pairs already... xx
