American Vintage Patherson Jacket

Friday 4 September 2015

If you follow me on Instagram, you will already have seen this outfit. I wore it for an impromptu night out last week.

American Vintage Jacket, Jigsaw Vest, Topshop Baxter Jeans, Becksondergaard Back, Mango Sandals

I'm a pretty lazy dresser these days and whereas in my heyday, I used to love a pretty dress and  a chance to sparkle, these days, I've adopted the uniform of many a grown woman - a pair of jeans with a little something to show that you tried "a little". My trying "a little" was me busting out a jacket. And if you've followed me for a while, you will know that I am not much of a jacket wearer, especially blazer type ones. I usually feel a little too "done" in them. But I don't argue with the fact that a jacket really pulls an outfit together.

The one I'm wearing is the American Vintage Paterson jersey jacket. I won a voucher to spend at The Dressing Room in St Albans and the jacket was one of the things I ordered. They only had it in the "Dolphin" colour at the time which is a pale grey and whoever thought up that colour description up is a genius because they could not have described this colour better. To be honest. I didn't have high hopes for it but it actually turned out to be a brilliant fit! The arms are slim and flattering but not overly tight and it seems to shape in nicely at the waist in a not too obvious way.

The rest of my outfit?

Many shades of grunge.

I wore a very old vest top from Jigsaw which is very food accommodating in that it skims the body. The black Topshop Baxters also came out as did the fangledy dangledy Mango sandals. The sandals look lovely but can I be bothered to wear them on a day to day basis? Nop because I hate lacing them up. These are the sandals to avoid if you are having a day out "clothes shopping". You waste valuable shopping time trying to tie them if you've been trying things on. The Becksondergaard clutch got it's first outing and last but not least, my first concession to dark green this season - my toes which are done in H&M's Envy. I did tell you I was going green this season!

Last Note :

I liked the Paterson jacket so much, I now have three of them. These are the other two colour ways :

Vintage Twilight available here. Vintage Black available here.

  1. I have those Mango sandals, but cut about a yard of laces off so they just tie at the ankle rather than wrapping round and round and round and round. Far easier and they have been a favourite this summer. In the attic now in the "off season" box 😢

    1. Do you know I have thought about hacking off a few yards off them before but never got round to it. I would never wear them laced up the leg anyway. I'm about to pack mine away now - I think summer has called it a day.

    1. Thank you Fiona. I wasn't sure about the jacket as I wanted to wear the vintage black one really but seeing as how it was still a nice summers evening, I thought I'd give the lighter jacket a whirl. I think it turned out okay.

    1. Well I was so impressed with the fit on the first one and then the other two colours came out which I do actually prefer so I thought I'd best get on with it!

  4. I love a soft blazer, I have a couple - a black and a camo - and they do make you feel just that bit smarter without going all corporate, don't they? And yes why not buy all three, those colours are all so you, it would be rude not to :-D xx

    1. It's the looking all corporate which scares me a bit so these are a perfect solution to avoid that. And it wasn't the intention to buy three of the same jackets - it's just the way it worked out (I didn't know what else to order at the time with my voucher).

  6. Such a lovely look. I know what you mean about Blazers, I'm similar to you in that way that I feel a bit too 'done' in them. The fact this one is Jersey must help. It looks fabulous. Really suits you. Lynne xx

    1. This is the type of jacket which looks equally well with a pair of ballet pumps, heels or a pair of Converse the latter of which I am most likely to wear. So yes, I think I've found a good little style of jacket for me there Lynne.

    1. It wasn't intentional to get all three but I got the pale one first just to try out as it wasn't costing me anything as it was part of The Dressing Room win. It was so good, I just opted to get the other two more me colours as well. But you're right, they are great jackets to go anywhere in - night out and kiddies disco party as I found out this weekend!
