Christmas Jumpers ... Again.

Monday 22 December 2014

Do you want to know something? I wasn't really that bothered about getting a Christmas jumper until I saw the picture of Talisker (here) getting measured up for his Christmas jumper. I've pretty much managed without one all these years and then that one picture of a dog in a half knitted ensemble, started me off looking at Christmas jumpers which I never knew I wanted or needed. Suckerrrrr!

And I did say previously that I wasn't going to go for Christmas pudding or robin on the chest but I did say I might give the old Fair Isle a chance. So I did. I picked out this one!

H&M jumper, New Look Jeans, Vintage Snakeskin Clutch (Ebay), Dune Shoes

So not a true Fair Isle jumper but a more contemporary take in a retro kind of way -  I'm loving that 70's mustard yellow and brown detailing! I did try on a gazillion of these jumpers before I found my perfect one and it was all because the first one I tried on in store in a size XS was rather roomy on me yet the S was teeny weeny. So I then went and grabbed armfuls of the same style jumper in various sizes and had a manic trying on session before I ended up with my "perfect" one.

And yes, I've styled it up a little with some heels and a snakeskin clutch but it's one of those outfits which if you strip away those two items and replace with a pair of regular flats or boots and stick on a heattech underneath, a parka on top, you're good to go to the park (I have such a glam life).

Anyway recreating a similar look is very simple and aren't those shoes below wicked? :

Last Note :

  • You know, it's something when a dog can sell you a jumper isn't it? But you have to admit that Tal does look rather dapper in his finished jumper. Didn't Debs (Tal's owner) do a good job?

  1. Excellent! Looks great on you and I really love the modern high low hem. I have the cardigan version on my shopping list and just waiting to see if I still need it in my knitwear collection since I've updated it a bit this season.

    1. I didn't think about the cardigan style - I think this one just jumped out at me because of the yellow details - I have a soft spot for yellow though you don't often see me wearing the colour. And it will be interesting to see if you end up going for the cardigan - you have quite a well curated wardrobe.

  2. I had to go the whole hog this year and get a Christmas jumper with a reindeer that sang jingle bells and had flashing lights. The joys of teaching! Happy Christmas Sue - looking good as usual!

    1. Hi Claire - long time not been around but nice to see you back. Hope you're well. And the joys of teaching eh? I bet the kids loved your jumper at least even if you weren't so keen!

  3. I love this with heels - looks fabulous! Sadly the only thing I'll be accessorising mine with for the foreseeable is an umbrella and wellies. Oh, and possibly an ark if this bloody rain doesn't stop soon. Can you please send over some of that sunshine to Manchester??

    1. I was just having some fun - I'm normally in much more practical footwear but I came across my old Dune shoes whilst doing a bit of a shoe sort. They're not a pair that I reach for generally as I really struggle to get them to look good on the leg. I think I bought them more for the fact that I liked the way they looked than the way they looked on me. We all do that right?

BTW, the sunshine was last week some time (I am so slow at posting).

    1. Pfft! But I knew it was going to happen - Tal does look pretty cool in his little coat doesn't he? I think I'd wear it if Debs was to make a human version.

  5. +1 on the shoes--do you have a link on that model? Also, your excellent use of lighter wash jeans reminds me that I have two pairs I have yet to maximize in my own closet :) Thanks for the inspiration, Sue!

    1. My shoes are 3-4 years old so I don't have a link anymore. It would appear that despite having such sensible plain clothes generally, I always had a weakness for pretty shoes :)

And yes, you should break out the lighter denim more often - you look fab in that pair you featured.

  6. The staff in H&M must have thought you were barking mad yourself, taking in armfuls of the same jumper which I absolutely adore and was so worth it x

    1. Yup I think they thought I'd lost it. I went in and out 3 or 4 times and always with the same style jumper and then handed them back and then went in with more. But I got there didn't I?

  7. I am not normally a festive jumper girl, but I do love this and how you styled it (yes I am a total shoe girl - the shoes are fab) I love a lot of things about this jumper, the sleeve length, the hem lengths and the subtle festive pattern in the Circle shapes. X

    1. Thanks for the lovely comment AnnMarie.I think it was a bit of a fluke how it all came together. I'm always having a sneaky peak at Pinterest and needed some ideas of how to wear a Christmas jumper without looking too bonkers and this seemed to be the way to go. However, you are more likely to see me wearing this combo with a pair of Uggy slippers attached to my feet over the Christmas period - comfort and all!

  8. Talisker looks so cute in his sweater! hehe. I'm hoping when I become a puppy mummy next year I'll get cute little sweaters and things for my own dog.

Sue, just have to tell you, that H&M sweater is all kinds of incredible (like WHY isn't there an H&M that's easy for me to access - other side of the city when you don't have a car does not help). Love the outfit. Wish I had your sweater.
