Zara Quilted Floral Biker Jacket

Tuesday 5 February 2013

I thought I'd changed my shopping habits and that I no longer was that covetous creature that wanted everything and needed nothing but bought something regardless. But like they say, old habits die hard. You can't teach an old dog new tricks. You can't teach a pig to sing. You can't stop Sue shopping.

What's happened? Well I tell you. I was being really good and I thought there was nothing in web shopping land which could tempt me and then Zara did a drop of new stuff this week. BOOM. It hit me hard.

I saw shoes. I saw boots. I saw shirts. I saw all manner of stuff I didn't need but really wanted. Bog.

But what I really wanted was this ......

In all it's red and bluey flowery gorgeousness. Guess what? It's currently sold out online and I've not seen it in the Zaras' in my neck of the woods yet. Ah well.

But don't worry, I'm not sad. Because I've got mine. YUUUUUSSSSSSSSS!!!!! (punch air in victory gesture). Sing with me .....  I've got it, I've got it, I've got it! And do the funny bum wiggle, pot stirring dance whilst you're at it.

Heee heee heee!                                              Hee hee hee!

YUUUUUSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

Happy, happy, happy!                                      Happy, happy, happy!

Smug. Me. Hell Yes!  Well until they re-stock.

  2. Congrats! So satisfying when you get what you want and no one else can have it ;) Have to say, lying flat I'm not crazy about it, but when you put it on, something really great happens. I think the key is in those rockin shoulders. So beautifully shaped.

    1. It is rather satisfying isn't it? The shoulders are a little Michael Jackson aren't they? They quite tickle me but I won' be busting any MJ moves any time soon. I think I watched the jacket for a couple of days and then thought now or never and next morning - none left! But as it's new season, I'm sure there will be another delivery soon. I do love a nice quilted jacket - it's because I'm quite nesh really. Even in the summer.

    2. "Nesh"?! Are you trying to prove something about cross-continental communication breakdowns here? Seriously Sue, you are killing me! I just cracked up out loud this morning. Please, illuminate me...

    3. Nesh - what you mean you've never heard of nesh? It's a term the hubs uses about me - susceptible to the cold! I am that person who sits next to the radiator at home. I'm a heat hogger.

    4. Did your husband make this up or is this a real term that other folks use as well? Nesh. Wow. I swear, I learn so much from you! I am definitely nesh as well.

    5. Did not make that up. Cross my heart and hope to die. It's on wikipedia and http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=nesh Phew. I thought you were going to ask me what a heat hogger was but I think you must have worked that out :o)

  3. Hey hey my dear-congratulations for snaffling such a gorgeous piece, absolutely love it and your post too-it really made me smile!! It looks fabulous and love how it cuts across the front! I have my Kate Moss for Topshop Liberty print floral quilted jacket which is fairly similar and just adore it, a quilted floral summer jacket is wonderful for summer, yay!!

    1. Ooh that's a lovely jacket if it's the one I'm thinking of. Red and blue? I have a bit of a fondness for cotton quilted jackets - rarely can resist but have to know when to stop. I didn't resist this one because I don't have a biker quilted one so that's alright then ;o) Hope to see you doing a post in yours when the weather gets better.

    2. Hi again! Yes, it is the red and blue one and will definitely do another post on it when the weather eventually gets warmer!!

    1. Very me? I'd love to know what very me is. Even I don't know what very me is. Why do you feel like a rabbit in headlights?

However, I aspire to your greatness and ability to reign in on the spending even though I know you have your house project on the go.

    2. I think you because it has a hint of pretty - although you won't confess that!! Great shape and will look fab with boyfriend jeans! Am I right, am I right? Go on say yes!!!! ( Oh and by the way I fell off the wagon - outfit post coming!)

    1. Thank you Avril - you are but too kind. But have you seen it on Cara Delevingne on the Zara TRF promo video? That video has only been on the site in the last couple of days - probably why it disappeared off the site so quickly. I ordered mine before then. Smug happy smile.

  7. Haha, that Hee Hee part made me laugh. I do that in a sort of semi-embarrassed, cheeky way too when I'm feeling a little smug. I've been feeling lots of Zara love lately, although I have yet to buy anything from them since there are no B&M stores around these parts. Looking good though, Susie! :-)

    1. Thank you and oh good - I like that you do that too :o) And do you do the pot stirring dance? I was feeling quite out of love for Zara but realised that it was because we were in sale season and I hadn't seen the new collection as yet but my immediate response when it hit was I'll have that, that and that. And then I woke up and smelt the coffee and stuck with the one jacket. Phew. A question for you Amanda, What's a B&M store?

      Delete
    2. Hi Susie, B&M = brick & mortar! I guess maybe things aren't made with brick & mortar these days though... I do the obscene pelvis swivel when I'm feeling cheeky ;-)

  8. Oh now, that is gorgeous! Well deserving of victory punches and butt wiggling dances. So gorgeous in fact that as I need to do some shopping tomorrow (The Child turns 12 at the weekend - how did that happen?!) and will be passing a Zara ... I will SO be checking out their stock to see if it's in-store. Excellent buy! Looks fabulous on you :)

    1. Thanks Helen. It's fun and summery and guess what - even you could wear this one - the colours are very forgiving. Let us know how you get on in Zara - lots of dark stuff coming in but lots of creamy whites too - lovely. The child is 12. Wow. Having said that, Ben will be 7 this year and that is scary.

  9. Haha so true. I said to a friend I wanted to stop shopping and her response was "can people like us ever truly stop?" Made me laugh. Anyway, I love the jacket and yay for getting it. It feels so Marant-esque!

    1. Exactly - I was born with the shopping gene and you were too but in a more considered way. We can't change our spots.

  10. Noooooooo please don't tempt me to check out Zara, I bought far too much on my spending ban so I'm having to make up for it this month! I've moved on from my H&M obsession and Zara had filled the void.

Jacket is gorgeous btw Sue, so individual!

    1. Sorreeeee Trea! You have to check out Zara and the new stuff. But you don't have to buy. Remember, you're just looking. You're not buying (could swear that's a Sterophonics song). Bog. Will now be humming it for the rest of the night! Serves me right.

  12. Lol - get the feeling you really, really like this jacket! It looks great on you! The thing with Zara is don't wait around for something you totally love because it will sell out and might not be re-stocked.

    1. Yup I do. Sometimes you just get that happy feeling when you get something in your hands. I got the happy feeling when I opened the box. And yes, you're right, you have to strike quickly with Zara - blink and they're gone. Until they turn up 5 months later on the sale rail whilst you've been going mad hunting it down.

  15. Gawd, that's one amazing jacket! I wonder when it will make it's way down to Aussie shops? I could totally find a few things to sell in order to afford it... ;)

    1. Oh I'm sure you can find a couple more things to sell in time for when it hits your neck of the woods. They must stagger the drops but I can never quite work out how seasons affect stocks with shops like Zara with different seasonal audiences. If you're having summer there and I'm having winter - are we still seeing the same stock? Questions questions - don't worry - I'm not expecting you to answer or know but I have wondered before how it works.
