Baby It's Cold Outside!

Monday 14 January 2013

Last Monday when I was stuck in the house working i.e. ironing and cleaning, I had a bout of cabin fever and silliness where I modelled for you my nice new laundry bag. The other item I modelled which I did not show you was of my furry trapper hat. I was mumbling away to myself about how it wasn't really cold enough to justify wearing it and when was I going to get the opportunity - well folks - guess what - it's officially snowing outside so I can wear my hat! Yippee!

This is how to wear it .....

I'm off to catch me a squirrel!

This is how not to wear it .....

Yikes! A mushroom fur ball has landed on my head!

Or your family will disown you!

Sorry - I need to grow up and I never said I was cool but cabin fever does take over sometimes!

I hear the cure is retail therapy!

  2. That's a really cool effect - is it one of the free programs you can download? I wear my beret most days and was thinking of upgrading to my vintage fur hat when it snows, but it never did. I last wore it in the Winter of 2010/11. Not sure how others can go without some sort of hat when it's that cold.

    1. Yes - google picmonkey and they have a variety of effects for you to play with and I just stumbled upon the snow thing. I have slightly more normal beanies but they make my head itch on my forehead whereas this fur monster doesn't. I can say that having just come back from the school run with it perched on my head,

  3. Not fair! No snow here. The Child is disgusted. Hat is hilarious ... we now need pics of you doing the school run with the mushroom style :)

  4. Ha! How not to wear cracked me up! I have a few furry hats myself. I always blame it on growing up in Wisconsin, but the truth is I just love them, I feel some some sort of powerful czarina. I have an alpaca one that is so huge it looks like the alpaca just sat down on my head. And to me, oddly enough, that's a good thing ;)

    1. I really struggle with hats so finding this one was a bit of a godsend as the Grumps has commandeered my Brora cashmere beanie! I was looking for one without any flaps but they seem to be selling out left right and centre and the ones I found just didn't fit. My turn to be educated by your good self though I had a good guess as to what czarina might be. I'm more used to the spelling of Tsar for a Russian emperor so the spelling beginning with czar threw me. Must be something about furry hats that make us look like a furry animal has sat on our heads but we still wear them :o)

    2. So glad we can school each other like this! Ha! And honestly, who wouldn't want a furry animal sitting on their head? The zoo here in madrid has a special lemur section where they come over and interact with you, one of them even hung from hubby's pants pocket. I would have loved to have one sit on my head!

  5. I love hats for dos (don't go to that many thought) but warm winter hats just make my round face look rounder and my hair just doesn't know where to go. I love berets and have bought a few over the years but just feel like someone in Allo Allo and all cheeks!!! You look so cool in yours Sue.
P.s freezing up north isn't it?

    1. I get moonface syndrome too when wearing hats but try a trapper hat - the flaps have a slimming effect believe it or not. Well they help me at least and keep my ears warm too.

  7. Sadly it's not cold enough down here yet for me to warrant wearing a hat like that. But I want to. Oh, yes, I do.

  8. I always like hats on other people but rarely wear one myself. Your commentary made me smile and you are right - retail therapy cures almost everything!
