Indulge me....

Bonjour mes amis.  Je m'appelle Susie So So et je suis avez au beaucoup de jolie fun joue avec le photo editing suite a la Pomme. C'est la raison pour les noir et blanc photos.

Translated : Hello friends. I am called Susie So So and I am having a lot of fun with the Apple photo editing suite.  It is the reason for the black and white photos.

That's really bad schoolgirl French and you'd never guess I actually have an O'level (Grade B) in it. But it has been about 25 years since I had to utter a single French syllable.  I actually just wanted to show you my new jacket/coat  from Mango and I dug out some shoes with a heel! and voila! we all go a little Left Bank.  It's not very expensive at £39.99 but it's not lined either but good for Autumn and it's a little bit of fashion ooh la la which we all need.

Black Muji Jumper
Black Primark Necklace
Jack Wills Skinny jeans
George Asda (yes - George at Asda) Black Patent Courts

In an alternative reality, I would be a youthful 20 something, strolling along the banks of the Seine carrying a baguette and an armful of flowers in the morning sunshine.  However I am here on my landing doing what I usually do - prancing around on my landing taking happy snaps.

Anyway, back to the cleaning.  We have guests.  Well - one guest but I have to behave for a few days now before he thinks I need to be sectioned for taking photos of myself outside his bedroom.

Au revoir por maintenant!

P.S.  You really don't need to correct me on the appalling French.  I know it's really bad.

  1. Love the black & white pics. Outfit looks very striking. There is something v French about the coat.. Love the necklace and jeans too.
So funny about your guest - I have visions of a very startled guest appearing in the background on a future photo 'out-take'!

    1. Don't know who would be more startled actually. The guest confessed today he only put on clothes to come out of his bedroom to come downstairs .... what if he'd been just popping from his room to the bathroom - past the mirror where I take my pictures!

  2. ha-ha-ha...about the guest! You think he might take it the wrong way if instead you ask that he takes pictures of you in different outfits? I would use this opportunity as everytime I try to make a picture of myself, it's ruined by some kind of flash (and therefore, absence of my styling blog till now).
Lovely jacket. I like Mango myself, usually always find something in their shop.

    1. No I will happily leave the guest in the dark. What he doesn't witness, he doesn't need to know about. Turn your flash off and get on with the styling blog!

  3. Gorgeous jacket. Reminds me of the one Whitney Heuston wore in the video for 'I Will Always Love You'. (I'm sure you've seen it - was an hourly staple on MTV back in the day and spent FOREVER as No 1 on Top of the Pops - ok, aging myself horribly here!!) I drooled over that jacket and yours is not a million miles away. Good buy

    1. Guess who just had to google the video to look up the jacket? The video was distinctly fuzzy but I can see where you're coming from!

  5. lovely outfit + post -- I have that jacket on my wishlist... did you get the black and white or the black and grey? I was sad to see the black and white one sold out :( xx

    1. From what I can see on the Mango website - they have all the sizes in both colours - and John Lewis also carry the Mango range as well. I got the black and white one - I thought it just looked a little sharper and more distinct. Feel very pleased with it as it's roomy enough just to throw on over a thick jumper. If you can get one - I think you'd be really happy with it.

    2. oh gosh! you're right! I looked at this on the site just after seeing it on the TV ad and it was sold out, but now it's back! hooray, that makes me happy :) I may have to totally copy you and get one too...

    3. If you get one - how about a headless shot of you modelling it? With a Mill & Boon? Would love to see - I always think it's fascinating to find someone with the same clothes but looking so different.

    4. haha I'll do my best! I'll have to find a Mills & Boon to match :)

I just ordered it, although I'm nervous for it to arrive as I've always had trouble with Mango sizing - their items never seem to be sized consistently!!

I love seeing how people style the same clothes I have too - occasionally I'll spot an item on a street style shot and think how nice it looks, and then realise I have the same thing! It's great because it rejuvenates my interest in it...

  6. He's a guy...I doubt he will ever understand why women feel compelled to take shots of themselves and post them online :P LOL! Hey! Your French is a million times better than mine. I'm probably the only person on this face of the earth that the French insist that I speak English.

Hard to believe your shoes are from Asda (!!). Your Mango coat looks very IM-esque.

    1. I thought your French would be really rocking with all your visits to the Hermes stores!

Yes the shoes are from Asda and believe it or not - they have red soles (my friends thought I had Louboutins and I unfortunately had to correct them).

And the jacket is the nearest I'm going to get to IM this season I think. Ah well. I'll just take the inspiration and rework on my budget.

    1. Thanks Avril. I was just having a play and it all fell in to place but it's amazing how changing the photos to black and white make everything more "atmospheric". Back to normal now or no one will recognise me.

      Have a great weekend too.

    1. Thank you. It was fun. The hubs took a look at the first line of this post and muttered something along the lines of "what on earth are you up to now???".... which was then followed by "another new coat????". Can't have too many coats in England, I say.

    1. I can see this as being one of your jackets. Actually it seems it's everyone's jacket - I think Mango hit the jackpot with this one this time.

  16. haha! Loved this post. The black & white and the little introduction in French. Oh-la-la c'est très chic!
I studied French for 3 years in high school but sadly I cannot speak/write anything. I can read and understand it quite well, though, but mostly because I know Portuguese and Spanish. I keep promising myself that I should go back to language school and take some classes, but I'm TOO lazy.
oh you got THAT jacket from Mango... I saw it this morning and thought I should definitely go back to the shop to try it on. The price is fantastic and it seems from your pictures that the cut is very good too. I hope it's also warm.

    1. Yes - go back and try it on. It's brilliant for the price for a bit of fashion frivolity. The style is great and very relaxed - perfect for your wardrobe. It's not lined so not a perfect winter coat but roomy enough for a big knit to fit under.

I'm surprised I remembered that much French to be honest. I think they beat it into me at school, along with the German which I don't remember much of apart from something about a strassebahn? Something to do with a tramstop. Please don't correct me unless I am very much mistaken and have actually uttered a German obscenity without realising it.
