Think Pink

Each year, I go through this thing where I decide I want to wear pink. Yes, seriously I do. I must get the January blues or something and decide that I need something a little more out there and cheery than the usual stuff. I've not really pursued it properly in previous years but I thought I'd remedy that this week by going on a pink bender.

And the two which I actually quite liked included this one from M&S :

And this one from Gap.

Well the M&S one actually made it home with me and then went back again. I bought it in a size 12 rather than my usual size 10 to add a little slouch but I couldn't get used to it being lambswool which just wasn't soft enough. I have to confess, I'm a sucker for cashmere (cheap or expensive - it doesn't matter) it just feels nicer on. But I liked the bright cheeriness of the pink. Please make it in cashmere in this exact shade of pink M&S and I'll buy it.

The second one, the GAP one is actually "lilac" but it's one of the pink shades that I can work with. Give me a pale dusky pink and it dies against my skin - give me a zingy shade like this and my skin tone laps it up. This one was a size medium and all they had left in the store and it was in the sale. I thought about taking it home, imagined myself drinking a tea at home and the hubs arriving home and saying "What have you got on? Are you feeling alright?". So I left it.

So ... that's my adventure in pink la la land for this year actually. At least I scratched the itch. No doubt I will revisit the pink thing again next year. See you then!

Last Note :

  • I basically want the jumper in the Pinterest pic. If anybody spies anything similar - give me a holler please!
  • I did think about knitting my own from a kit from Wool and the Gang. I love this one and I want in in pink lemonade! But I haven't knitted since I was 8 so that's not happening.

  1. You have to go back and buy the Gap one! It's looks really great on you. This post made me smile, I would never think of wearing pink but have been a bit obsessed with it these past few weeks. There's a slouchy roll neck in & Other Stories I look at every day.

    1. I'm not that much of a pink girl myself but it's a colour I do really like when it's done right. I was trying to weigh up how to go about this "colour" thing and I think my happy compromise colour would be something like a cornflower blue like on my favourite Oxford shirt - it gives me that hit of colour but still leaves me feeling like me. I'll have to check out the Other Stories jumper and see if I can spot it.

  2. The M&S one looks close to the pic, but glad you left it. I'm following the conversation in case you find one similar to the pic. Love it!

    1. The M&S one was spot on on colour but it didn't have that lushness that I wanted - I was thinking sort of soft and fluffy but cashmere fluffy rather than acrylic petbed fluffy. If I find the one, I'l probably be shouting it from the rooftops :)

  3. As I started reading, I thought, I bet she takes them back (lol). And if you do decide to knit that last jumper, I'll send you over my measurements because I love it x

    1. It's a lovely jumper - you can get them knitted up for you in select colours but it will cost you ;) And the likelihood of me getting in touch with my inner knitting nana - ha ha.

  4. Oh you and your pink never fails to amuse me each year. It's just so ... not you!!! Having said that I think the Gap jumper looks beyond fab on you and you should go back and buy it immediately. Why on earth would you listen to your husband? ;)

    1. I know, I do this every year where I get a hankering for pink and never quite go for it. But I've really tried this year and still ... something is holding me back! And I never thought you would tell me to go and buy a pink jumper!

    1. A lot of the French Instagram ladies do the pink thing don't they? And they look lovely in it - proving that it's okay to do pink. Go on ... I know you want to!

  6. There's a lilac alpaca jumper on hush website in the sale that reminds me of the fluffy pink jumper you like
Could I please ask - I love your jeans - where are they from? thanks :-)

    1. I've just taken a look at the Hush one and it's not quite there for me but thank you for suggesting. My jeans are Zara ones from a few years back so no longer available. Sorry. I've not seen any since that I like as much to recommend.

  7. Actually, pinks aside, I love those jeans and want some. Details?

    1. These are old Zara jeans so no longer available. I actually bought two pairs because I liked them so much. One pair I put patches on as the rips got rather large and this is the other pair which I patched from underneath so they didn't rip unnecessarily more than they should (learning from experience there). I actually bought my second pair on Ebay just to make sure I had a pair of backup ones.

  8. I'm with you on dusky pinks, I need a more bluer/lilac pink. I also struggle with a pale pink, though it looks lovely with greys. That Pinterest jumper looks so cosy...

    1. There was a lovely dusky pink dress in Zara last summer - I took it in the changing room and I just died a death in it. Such a shame as it's a colour I love but one that just doesn't love me back. And that Pinterest jumper - s w o o n!

  9. I think you may have started something with me and pink Sue! I'm now thinking what a lovely lift that would be in my wardrobe with my Toppers grey coat! Totally out of my comfort zone but I think it would totally get me in the mood for Spring! xx

    1. Start with a scarf! Something small - it might be just that extra little lift you need though!
