Cool H&M Evening Jackets

What madness and badness have I spotted now?

H&M Silver Fur Jacket

This is a little off the wall for me but I like it. I like it a lot. It's like someone spray painted a fur coat silver and then tried to madly dab the paint off. I tried it on and I put it back and said I will buy it at home with the 25% discount code (0747) and the £5 off code (1304) which you can use to make it an utter bargain. This will see me through those chilly winter nights when the Christmas parties come a calling. It will be fun and I will be warm :o)

Pah! Sold out.

And remember when I said I don't do angora knitwear because it tickles my nose. The cardigan below doesn't count. Yes it's angora but because you don't pull it on over your head, it doesn't tickle your nose and so it's okay to like this (that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it). It is actually really really really lovely and looks so much more expensive than its £49.99 price tag and ten times better than the stock photo they provide. Wear this over an ivory silk shirt and some black skinnies and highest badass heels you can manage. Yum yum.

They didn't have it in my size in store.

And neither do they have it in my size online. Infact they just sold out. Pah!

Party poopers :o(

Last Note :

  • There is always a discount code to be had with H&M online.
  • They allow you to apply two discount codes at a time.
  • They probably won't thank me for telling you that.
  • If you're lucky, you might still find one in store. If you're lucky ....

  1. I'm not a huge fan of angora because I find that the fluffies get everywhere. Like, in my mouth. Am I the only one? I'd be especially wary of the shedding of an H&M angora sweater. But you do make it sound so damn tempting. I might have to go look at it in person. As for the fur, it sounds fascinating in theory, but honestly I just know it would be the sort of thing I would wear a few times and then it would languish in the back on my closet. Sucks that you weren't able to get either one though, don't you have access to more than one H&M near you? Did you try them all?

    1. No, you're not the only one lol! That's why I'm wary of dogs, cats, rabbits and other fluffy/furry creatures.

    2. Ha! That's hilarious. For some reason I am not averse to actual live furry animals, and never even contemplate their fur in my mouth. But a fluffy garment capable of shedding? No thank you!

  2. No I don't like angora much either but was strangely drawn to this one. It's actually quite heavy and is therefore one of the more pricey H&M items. It feels like a jacket. Think of Elin King in one with a silk blouse, black leather skinnys and heels and suddenly it all falls in to place. Don't think of it on me - that kills it :o(

And I know what you mean about the first jacket but that was strangely nice. I think it's the festive season raising it's head and this is a perfect statement jacket on that account. And yes, I've tried the angora one on and the silver. The angora one is the one to go for. It's like the perfect cover up for that little strappy dress on a cold winters evening without looking like your nana but not having to do the chunky fur coat thing. A little more streamlined and elegant and a really versatile piece. Gutted I can't get my hands on it.

    1. It sounds pretty great actually. Haven't had time to check the stores around me to see if I can see it, but my curiosity has definitely been piqued. Oh and don't be silly, I can totally picture it on you, I have no need to substitute a 6ft tall blonde super model in order to imagine it ;)

  3. Sue you Tempress! I adore fur and fluffy textures however on me I end up looking like a...well let's just say the extra thickness is unflattering on me and my big shoulders. The angora looks really, really good I agree even from the bad stock photo :-) And I totally get your styling idea of silk shirt etc..I have all those except I've no idea who Elin King is. I only ever buy from H&M when they have at least one discount code...I think they've stopped sending me any!

Keep your spirits up Sue - it's only September - just - so you may well find the angora and you shall go to the Xmas Balls :-) I may have to make do with my little black velvet jacket number with short sleeves...did you see any long black gloves at H&M?

    1. Not worried at all SPD (still tickles me does that). And it's Elin Kling. I was typying quite quickly early on and didn't spot that it had been auto corrected. http://www.elin-kling.com Lovely style. Simple and pared down. Less is more.

I'll manage without both .. I've done without this long and I don't get out much anyway :o) But the angora one is not bulky at all and the fur one doesn't make you look a yeti but you do need to size down.

  5. Nice! typical H&m with lack of available sizes thoigh-drives me nuts! I bought a blue sequin blazer last year as my party jacket and its still in my closet with the tags on. Its just so 'shiny'! Maybe this years..

    1. With H&M, their Trend pieces sell out really quickly. Half of me is pleased especially if I like it as it's reassuring to know that it's selling out because people like it and that I don't have totally weird taste but then part of me thinks "gah! sold out".

And get the jacket out - tell the hubby you need taking out.

  6. Never buy anything from H and M without using discount codes - love them. I'm sure the cardigan and jacket would look fabulous on you, but I'm always a bit wary of these fabrics/styles on me! Never quite feel comfortable.

    1. The silver one is a little out of my comfort zone but could be do-able. The black one is great dressed for evening or day and not as difficult to wear as you might think.

  7. The angora cardigan looks fab, is it really heavy? it doesnt look it, hope you get one if you really want one, check online for voucher codes too x Dawn

    1. The angora one is not too heavy but is a nice substantial wool - not that thin light stuff. Its light yet heavy which sounds a little crazy but you'd understand if you saw it.

And I never shop at H&M online without a voucher code(s).

  11. Oh gosh I like both, especially the top one. Isn't it annoying when you come across something that's exactly what you're after (or that you just plain want), and it's sold out? Always happens to me!

    1. I'm just a ditherer. I mess around and think I'll come back for it later or it appears when I'm not expecting it and everyone's got there before me. I find that happens a lot with H&M Trend stuff. It either comes online a month before it hits the store or a month behind it having hit the store. The two never seem to marry up.

The silver one would be so perfect for you actually. It really is your thing and I think you would dress it up beautifully. If you come across one, get it. And remember to size down.

  12. I'm dying to shop online but seriously, they only accept US based credit cards on their US site! Sniff. Lovely picks Sue, the silver fur jacket looks really cool and so easy to throw over a casual dress for added glam factor. Maybe it's still in store?

    1. I saw them in store Steph and they've all gone now. Another classic you snooze, you lose. And I'm there telling people to buy when they see it and decide at home. So much for practicing what I preach.

  13. Oh I hope you get the jacket ... cos I just can't imagine you wanting a jacket like that??? I love it .. but then I'm the owner of a purple faux fur jacket :) I bet I could find it in Dublin. Nothing sells out as fast here as it does in the UK. Do you want me to take a look for you?

    1. Thank you Helen but I'm telling myself that I really don't need any furry evening wear in my wardrobe at the moment. I've managed this long without. But honestly - I do have my fashion whims. I just don't have the money and the confidence to exercise them all the time. So no pink Madame sweatshirts and silver fur coats for me ... at the moment.

  14. Love both Sue but the silver fur jacket is fabulous, so glamorous!

Must thank you for the double whammy discount.......I can report success using the 2 codes for one item! Did a very sneaky order before my budget challenge kicks in! :0)

    1. Oh my - now I'm wondering what you've bought. And how clever to sneak it in before the start of the challenge ;o)

  15. Hola! Do you want me to look for the H&M jacket for you? I personally found it too scrunchy to the touch, but the look is good. Want me to look for the cardi? I have to go hack to H&M tomorrow, to return things I didn't end up needing for the Bolters, and to buy more of their excellent £6 basketball trainers - we must have about 10 pairs in various colours, and choosing their trainers in the morning makes them happy. Which, makes the school run easier, and makes me happy. Its the little things, right?

    1. I do the little Primark baseball/basketball trainers for George - brilliant as they are elasticated. But I don't need to anymore as we are now on boring black school shoes. Booo.

The silver jacket has been banished from the brain now. Black angora one is still hanging on by a thread but SPD left a comment on her blog about the washing of it and that's got me thinking of how awkward that would be. I think I shall leave both for now ... besides which - the 25% code has expired I believe which would make it not quite so bargainous! Onwards .... and onwards.

  16. Oh I've missed your blog. Catching up at last and loved this post...especially the footnotes. I once did two separate orders with H&M for two different things. Then I had to wait so long, I forgot what I ordered and sent the lot back. Hahaha....my lesson? Buy instore with H&M - the vouchers are the off-set for the pain of waiting on their rubbish delivery :) x

    1. It's the taking so long that puts me off ordering online usually though the discounts are good when you can get hold of the codes. But I'm pretty much an instant gratification girl so tend to buy in store as well and with H&M, I like to check over the products I'm buying. Need to check those seams!
