Two more days. Two more days and that's it. And then? And then the six week holidays begin. Aaarghghghg!
Actually George got early release and finished today. Which meant a frenzied trip to the supermarket for a quick search of suitable thank you presents for his teachers ... for putting up with him for the last year. The Sweet Williams caught my eye as soon as I walked in. Two bunches later and a roll of brown paper and ta dah! Posh blooms.
Here's two I made earlier :o)
H&M tee (old), French Connection skirt (ancient), River Island Espadrilles (old)
The skirt I said I only wore when I was abroad is now being worn over here - the heatwave shows no signs of abating. If they could just turn down the dial a couple of degrees or five, it would be lovely
Instead, I have a bright pink face which matches my tee and these blooms.
Luvverly.
I'm loving the heat. Because all too soon it will be back to miserable and grey again...
ReplyDeleteNot just yet ... seen the 7 day forecast. And so the heat continues .....
DeleteHi Sue... love the flowers:) I think we are slightly cooler over here although it is supposed to get hotter from today! I had another look on that Vila website and still can't see any navy dress similar to mine. I am thinking the shop put out older stock on sale, as there were loads of different colours that don't seem to be available on the site! Enjoy the hols with the boys:)
ReplyDelete~Anne
I had a really good look too and it's a dress just up my street. Looks fab on you. But thanks for checking.
DeleteHave a good weekend Anne - I'm sure I'll enjoy the hols (by hook or by crook).
Gorgeous. - I love brown paper - sounds silly - but I used to cover all my books in brown paper too - I love the texture of it. Perfect gifts - very posh:)
ReplyDeleteSuch a strange phenomenen is brown paper. Originally thought of as useful packaging but now used everywhere to "posh" things up. Works for me :o)
DeleteLovely blooms, very pretty and summery. I'm wilting in this heat my pale skin cannot take it :(
ReplyDeleteI am so rubbish in the heat. I'm rubbish in the cold too but for some reason, the heat is that little bit more unbearable. But as everyone says, we must be thankful ... and mindful of the level 3 heatwave warnings issued by the met office.
DeleteI am familiar with tomato face, but I like to think of it as a healthy rosy flush ;) Such pretty blossoms! You give those to your kids' teachers? Are you just the nicest person in the world or is that a thing there?
ReplyDeletewww.nomadicd.com
Lets go with rosy flush eh? Tomato face is not quite the same though I am sure I'm more that than rosy.
DeleteAnd it's probably an English thing that mums do over here where we thank the teachers for putting up with our kids for the past year. It's small compensation considering what they put up with throughout the year. But you could just pretend I am the nicest person in the world - which I am - when I want to be - when I want something :o)
Can't beat brown paper for making things look posh....great for wrapping Xmas pressies too.
ReplyDeleteYep - I do that too! Hope you got lots of thank you pressies.
DeleteOh I agree, just turn it down a notch so we can enjoy it. It's fine abroad when you have a pool and AC in your room, but here whilst your washing floors and ironing it's a nightmare! Enjoy the holidays, I can't wait for Charlie to finish next Wednesday x
ReplyDeleteI haven't done the ironing since I don't know when - I'd melt to nothing. I've literally ironed one thing each morning depending on people's needs. I just want it a touch cooler so I can function again.
DeleteEnjoy your hols with Charlie x
Ssssshhh! Don't say ANYTHING negative about the weather. I even did 2 hours of ironing in this heat this morning (couldn't tell you what I was wearing, lol!) We'll miss it when it's gone
ReplyDeleteOh, and PS: LOVE the flowers wrapped in brown paper. Very posh!
DeleteAnd so easy to do.
DeleteI won't ask what you were wearing or not ... I think it best not to go there.
Just to let you know that I wore my very similar - garden and abroad - denim skirt to the school run (veins and all) and nobody cared/batted an eyelid - you were right Sue! Me and my veins feel liberated! Gorgeous flowers - my youngest finishes Tuesday so need to sort pressies out! I'm getting used to all the sweating now - it's become a habit! :)
ReplyDeleteTold you Jenny! Everyone's so busy with their own hangups, they haven't got time to pay attention to anyone else's.
DeleteAnd have you noticed how the people who look like they have nothing to worry about are the ones with the worst neuroses?
What a lovely gift, I would love those flowers! Lovin u in some pink too Sue! Our weathe has went down hill, but to be honest I'm glad., I'm due back to work tomorrow and couldn't do those temperatures in jeans and a tshirt! X
ReplyDeleteThis is my favourite tee shirt actually Trea and I can't believe it's a pink one. And a real cheapy from H&M. Why I didn't buy a spare I will never figure that out.
DeleteAnd the temperatures have dropped a little (secretly glad).
I'm LOVING the weather at the minute!! But it's so hard to work in the heat.. I'm literally melting all over my mac at work!
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers, they look gorgeous in the brown paper!
Hannah xx
It was too hot to do anything last week but it's cooled a little now and I am back on track (sort of).
DeleteBrown paper makes everything look special these days. Ironic isn't it?
Love all the colours in that post Sue. That skirt on you deserves more wear! x
ReplyDeleteIt's getting some wear finally. It used to come out about once a year for the last 8 years or so. Poor thing.
DeleteI love Sweet Williams, they remind me of my childhood. My parents used to grow them, in abundance, in the garden at home. xxxx Thank you for the memory. You look gorgeous as ever.
ReplyDeleteThey are very English cottage garden aren't they Helen? And you always get a nice big bunch of them for a very reasonable price.
DeleteLovely that you have good memories associated with them.
Lucky teachers, these are beautiful:) A denim skirt is so practical, I actually forgot about mine, may go dig it out!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the teachers are inundated with flowers at the end of term but I still like to do flowers every now and then. I send a little piece of jewellery in the winter for Christmas and prefer to do flowers in the summer.
DeleteGet your skirt out - more summer wear without having to spend a penny.
