Twit Twoo. Burberry Owl for You?

So owls it is then for this Autumn. According to Burberry Prorsum.

An eye watering £795 but it is cashmere!

A slightly less eye-watering £195 but it is cotton!

These images came out earlier in the year of the lovely Kate Bosworth wearing the Burberry Prorsums' Owl Intarsia Jumper.  The jumper is cute but in this instance either Kate is a little short in the body or her owl is feeling a little cold and sitting inside her skirt for warmth.  But it's still cute.

I'm doing my own take on the Owl trend with my Hobbs NW3 owl tee which is how I imagine Hedwig to look from the Harry Potter movies.

Owl Tee + Grey Cardigan + Purple Glasses = Student Geek Chic!

Purple Polo Smith Glasses (Hong Kong)

The Grumps can't resist taking the mick out of my Polo Smith glasses - because they're not Ralph Lauren Polo and they're not Paul Smith.  They're a fusion of the two! Only in Hong Kong!!!  I chose them simply and purely because I loved the colour, they looked okay on (I am as blind as a bat when without contacts) and they suited me.  Getting glasses in Hong Kong is as easy as pie and extremely cheap.  I think it's something to do with the fact that Hong Kong students spend so much time buried in books, it affects their eye sight and consequently there is a huge glasses market out there (I just made that up but there's probably some truth behind what I've just spec(ha ha)ulated).  I think my glasses and lenses and eye check probably came to a grand total of £40.  Beat that.  There were Prada, Chanel, Gucci ones and all affordable bearing in mind how much cheaper getting glasses over there was compared to here but I liked the Polo Smiths - name or no name.  I resort to the glasses late in the evening or when extreme hayfever hits otherwise it's contacts all the way for me - I don't have the nose for glasses - they slip off a lot.

Anyway, I've done owls now.  What's next on the fashion radar?

  1. I love this Burberry look on Kate Bosworth (in fact I love most of her look!), but I've to say I hadn't paid much attention to the owls yet(I must have been distracted)... Your t-shirt is super-cute, though! The drawing is adorable. I love the owl's super-long lashes :)

As for the glasses, I've to confess I hadn't seen any problem in the brand name the first time I read it (you see, I'm very distracted!). But it seems a good deal - you probably got the best of both Paul Smith and Ralph Lauren Polo designs in one go ;)

    1. I'm quite fond of little Hedwig actually which is strange as I don't normally do cute. I think I'm a little old for printed tees but she was fun. This is one of two printed tees I have - the other I got 5 years ago in Hong Kong. Maybe the other one will put in an appearance one day on the blog when I've run out of things to write about.

Yes - two designers for the price of one. Result.

    1. Sorry - I was "hooting" with laughter when I read your comment. You made my day. Maybe it's the way I read it but I can imagine you with one hand on your hip and going "so there girlfriend!". Maybe it's just me.

  4. I've never been drawn to animal prints but admittedly, owls and butterflies are far prettier than the rest. Definitely can't do insects. Boy, that's a cheap pair of glasses!! I bought an el cheapo when I was back in Borneo but mine broke after a year. I kept taping it until the hubs could no longer tolerate the unsightly glasses and bought a pair of Chanels.

    1. Oh you're just a classy bird aren't you? (Sorry - no more bird references on this post - that's the last one). My friend has some Chanel ones - she said to me in front of her husband "Sue, you'll understand why I've got Chanel glasses, don't you" and showed me the glasses. And I said "Oh absolutely" thought I didn't. For once, I didn't see how she spent £500 on them. But solidarity between women and all that!

I saw an amazing bug scarf from Ted Baker this year. I would have loved it but couldn't bring myself to buy it at the time as I was being sensible.

    1. I don't take myself too seriously and sometimes you've just got have fun with a little owl on your chest.

I don't do rude tees and weird slogan ones though. No No.
