Last Note :
My black stripe Breton is one from the summer collection from Uniqlo which sadly is no longer available. However, as I love the black and white stripes so much, I confess to having just ordered this one from Boden as a backup just because I'm loving black and white stripes for going in to winter mode.

Were you all ready for the 5p carrier bag charge which came in to force in England yesterday? I was! (insert smug face emoji here).
Those orange and yellow triangles are my carrier bags all folded up and I had a handful of these stashed away in my bag ready and waiting.
I found this little tutorial one early morning when I couldn't sleep and I was in Marie Kondo mode. It was about folding carrier bags so they take up less space. In real Marie Kondo terms, you'd bin the lot but you could take the other Marie Kondo stance and fold anything and everything. I chose to fold them up. How?
Hours of fun there. Or lost.

Gucci 2015/16 (Source)
I'd like to say that I was being terribly fashionable, bang on trend and going with the Gucci 2015/16 vibe of red and orange but I really can't lie. It was a .... coincidence.

I've noticed that across various blogs over the last couple of years, everyone seems to be denouncing colour and saying that it's not their thing anymore. Fair enough, I put my hand up to that and my wardrobe is a bit of a shrine to the classic palettes of blues, greys and blacks but I think it's important to keep it in perspective and that sometimes you need to liven things up a bit. I've taken it to the extreme here with my colour combo but it kind of grabbed me and sometimes it's good to go with the flow.
Basically, I had a christening to go to the other week. I had an old dress which I've worn for numerous weddings and the odd christening but I frankly, I was bored with it. I also didn't want to spend a lot on something that I wasn't going to wear again. So whilst having a wander through the shops, I spotted this rusty red coloured blouse in H&M. I loved the shade, it still erred on the dark side and it had nice detailing on the collar and the shoulders. I also spotted the pumpkin coloured skirt there too. That is the best description I can come up for this skirt - pumpkin.
In my eyes, it worked and I chose to go a little more eclectic with the look with the Swedish Hasbeens and the slightly boho necklace which is one of my designs, available here. I could have put on black suede pointy toe pumps for a more pulled together but the Hasbeens felt more me and I wanted to be comfortable so I plumped for blocky heels.

Remember I said I didn't want something that I wasn't likely to wear again? Well, the blouse and the skirt are good standalone items which can be worn in a variety of ways.
The red blouse I bought in a size 12. The size 10 fitted too but as there wasn't much in it, I bought it in a 12 to allow for a little shrinkage as this sometimes happens with viscose items. I've not strayed too far from my usual wardrobe items and paired it with black jeans, tan boots and the guitar strap bag I picked up from Primark in a previous post.

The pumpkin skirt? This too is actually quite wearable during the day when teamed with a sweatshirt and some Cons. Only snag? No pockets. (insert sad face emoji here).

Sorry, no fancy titles there or anything. This is about fleecy insoles. I've mentioned them before and I'll mention them again. It's now autumn folks, the mornings are nippy and the toes are now covered up. I like to tuck my toes into a pair of fleecy insoles - soft, warm and kind to your feet. They add a little bit of extra cushioning too to put a bit of bounce in your step #comforthack
I used to buy mine from Leeds market but the little stall that I used to go to seems to have packed up and I don't know where it's relocated to since they started a refurb of the market area. So I looked online and found a lady who sells two pairs for £3.99 including p&p. Done deal.
Or if you're posh, you can always go for the shearling Hunter version available here.
Me? I'm cheap.

I didn't intend to write a blog post about the scarf but I had a couple of comments on it on Instagram which set me off thinking that maybe I should. A couple of ladies commented that they couldn't wear wool as it was too itchy for them. There is that problem for some people just as there is the problem for some people who will only wear wool as they don't like the feel of synthetic fabrics. Me - I can do both #bestofbothworlds
I spotted this particular scarf when I was trawling through the Premium Quality section online on the H&M site. It's generally my first port of call when I'm bored with the "New In" bits and if you look carefully, you can pick up some nice bits from here. I have a black cashmere jumper (available here) in a just right side of slouchy not sloppy fit from here for £50. I will be wearing this a lot this winter - I just know it. And I hear the big cashmere scarves are a bit of a winner from people who have bought them like Belinda when she covered them off on Allwornout recently. For £35. Similar offerings in Zara would be pushing double that price.
Anyway, my scarf is this petrol hued one :
Which also comes in a lovely pale grey (great dupe for the Acne Canada scarf here but maybe not as soft).
The scarves are 100% wool and comes in a whopping size of 70cm x 200cm. That's a lot of wool scarfage for £30. But for those who can't do wool - I spotted this modal number from Jigsaw in a similar hue and size and some might prefer this for the tassels :
And Oasis have put in their offering of a textured weave scarf in green. This is 100% acrylic but the weave and fabric looks like it was born for doing a bit of fancy scarf tying.
Or if you can handle the wool, you could wait till midnight tonight and see if you can get your hands on this lambswool number from the New Lemaire with Uniqlo collaboration :

Footie season is in full flow and this week, I decided to go for a little bit of lumberjack chic whilst cheering the little one on. The old parka came out, the Sorels came out and I was as snug as a bug in an old parka and a pair of Sorels.
And we won! Hoorah!

I do get quite a few queries about the Sorels and whether they are worth the money and true to size and everything. I did a post on them when I first got them here and I have to say, having had them through a couple of winters - I wouldn't be without. However, they are not the cheapest or the lightest boots on the block so I've had a scout round to see what other options there might be. I have included a few pairs of Sorels in there (I do like the styling) and a good dupe for around £50.
There is 30% off these boots this weekend. These are a great looking alternative to the Sorels I have and considerably lighter. I did have a lovely reader get in touch with me to say that she had tried the Sorels but they weren't for her but the Crocs versions were a surprise hit. And I have to say, I did do a double take when I saw these in a store last year and had to nip in to look at them properly. They are really nice.
These are the nubuck leather version of the ones I have.
Quite utilitarian in design and reasonably priced. Insulated and waterproof - should do the job nicely.
Because I know there will be a few of you out there who will love the pom pom details and the ivory shade.
Are these not the most fabulous dupe of the Sorel Caribous? And at half the price too.
In anthracite. With tan trims. Class.
The one thing to notice with all these - the front of the toe is well protected in rubber. I've walked through "dewy" fields many a time to find my regular leather boots getting soaked through at the toes, so the rubber protection at the front is a godsend in my eyes. You also need thick soles - protection from the cold cold damp ground!
