Okay, today it is a lovely day and the sun is out loud and proud. But the other day - hmm - not so warm, not so good, a little bit dull and a whole lot of cold. See ....
Uniqlo Fleece(y) Coat (last season), Uniqlo plaid shirt (last season), Uniqlo Down Jacket, Topshop Baxters, Adidas Stan Smiths.
I had to err on the side of warmth and practicality with jeans and a Uniqlo plaid flannel shirt. On top is a navy Uniqlo ULD jacket and on top of that - the piece de resistance ... a Uniqlo fleece(y). coat!
Okay, don't recoil in horror or anything. I know that fleeces are the scourge of many a true fashionista but you know what? This is not really a fleece. It's a peacoat which is made from a fleece like fabric, looks a lot like a fleece and is as warm as a fleece. But NOT a fleece.
That's my stance. I'm not budging.

Last Note :
- I'm currently really liking the biker version of the Uniqlo ULD Down jackets. A lot.
- Hands up those people who actually do wear fleeces at home.

Look at that gorgeous light streaming through and lighting up my pic. It was all lovely and sunshiny when I took that picture. Sunshine aka good light is wonderful for banishing wrinkles and under eye bags ..... in photos. If I could bottle that formula for real life wrinkles and eye bags - I would be stinking filthy rich!

I was in London last weekend for my annual bloggy meet and on the Sunday when I had some time to kill before I caught my train home, I thought I'd have a little mooch around the shops. So I came out of the Bond St tube station and there before me like a mystical apparition (missing a few angels and trumpets though) was a big Forever21 store. Happy clappy!
You see, I don't have a Forever21 store near me and I love looking in places like this to see if they have any gems. Last time I was in a store, I found my best ever grey tee and it was only £3. And it doesn't pill like the uber expensive Splendid one I bought a couple of years back which I have demoted yet again, this time from nightware to charity bag.
I spent an hour in their accessories department playing with various bits and pieces and it wasn't till the end when I came across this solitary green rucksack. I liked it as it was a little different because of the colour and it's definately a whole lot more happening than my Mini Cooper ruck sack which I share with George which I got free when I had a Mini. I also think if you were looking at similar bags in Topshop - I think they would be asking double what they ask for it in Forever 21. It's finished well too - the stitching is straight, the zips are done neatly and everything is as it should be. You know me - picky picky :)
And do you know what else? I didn't stash it away or wait a while before I started using it - I used it the day after I bought it and that almost never happens! Wonders will never cease!
Topshop Baxter Jeans

Stomping through Topshop the other week, I stopped before a pair of washed black Baxter jeans.
I don't do solid black - that would be too neat and clean looking but washed black - yes please! And with no knee rips which is a bonus for me. After too many years of jeans going at the knees - I'm quite liking keeping my knees covered. I bobbed in the changing rooms with them, tried them on, came out and bought them. I'm making jeans buying sound easy aren't I? But it wasn't quite as easy as that. I did take two sizes in and I tried both pairs on twice and I also did some Sumo squats in them for a couple of minutes in the changing room just to test them out for comfort and give before I made my decision. You do that too right?
And I'm quite tickled with the reviews online and how everyone doesn't like them and declares them too short and that they are totally different from the Baxters of old. Well I have to say, I'm glad they've changed them because now I luurrrve them as they're perfect for me! They have turned out to be the perfect full length skinny not too skinny jean for me and I've worn them non stop since I got them. Whoop whoop. And shall we throw a fist bump in there too? ;o)

Last Note :
- I bought mine in size 28 waist, 30 length for the perfect full length jean on me. I am 5ft 1.5inches with short legs (gah!) and a size 10 in most things. Any taller than me and these would be an ankle grazer ... which is what I think they should be. Basically order longer than what you would normally.

These totes from Sainsburys came out when I was on my jollies the other week. When I clapped eyes on them, I was immediately smitten with the leopard tote. Did I ever tell you how much I love a good cheap and cheerful tote? For £5, I get a smidgeon of designer which I might not be able to afford normally. So yes, I've had a bit of Orla Kiely, a bit of Amanda Wakely and now a bit of Lulu Guinness too.
I can't wait to see what the next collaboration will be!

Next Coat (very very old), Gap sweatshirt, MiH Paris Jeans, Zatchels Bag, Adidas Stan Smiths
Yup - that's me in a fuchsia pink coat. And I put in three pictures there to make sure that you knew it was me in a fuchsia pink coat.
I grabbed a navy coat to put on the other day but I wasn't feeling it. I looked out of the window, the sun was shining and I had had a good night's sleep after spending the last week hacking my guts up every night and not sleeping. But a visit to the chemist for cough medicine and lozenges and the whole world is looking a lot less sickly. And to reflect my happy mood - I put a happy coat on. A fuchsia pink happy coat.
I've been perusing a few blogs now that I'm back in the land of wifi and the thing that hit me .... a bit of colour goes a long way. Yup, I'm a classic blue, black, grey kind of girl but hey it's okay to freak out every now and then and just wear what you like. And that day, fuchsia pink spoke volumes to me.

Hi!
Hi. Did you miss me? I missed you guys. And I tell you what ... I really missed my wi-fi. Last week was half term and we disappeared to Wales to stay in a cottage with a pool table, a hot tub, a jacuzzi and no wi-fi. I would have happily given up the pool table, the hot tub and the jacuzzi and just had the wi-fi instead ;o) You don't realise your dependency on staying in touch with the outside world until it's not there. As it was, I had a couple of opportunities to grab 5 mins here and there in the odd cafe and to catch up with what people were up to. I just needed to reassure myself that I wasn't missing out on anything. I wasn't but I just needed wi-fi to know it.
Anyway, this meant that instead of a half term with the boys being glued to tech for entertainment, they had to do regular stuff like going to a zoo, learn to play pool, going for steam train rides ....

I found the most wonderful interiors shop which was housed in an old chapel which was a visual delight for the eyes and made me want to redecorate my whole house from scratch.
And we let the boys have ice cream despite it being 5 degrees.

which was really our way to soften the blow that there was no wi-fi where we were staying .... at ALL. For a week.
Nooooo! No wifi for a week?!?!?!
Anyway, we are now back in the land of wi-fi and life is as it was originally. I get to wear something other than the below staples - it's hard to pack 7 days winter wear in a case the size of a carry on!
I told you I was a fair-weather fashionista! Boring but warm.
I think I might crack out something a little more colourful tomorrow!
